I don't understand the down votes. How many of you guys saying the league wasn't all that much tougher back then are old enough to have watched it? I'm not. That's what the old guys tell me, though. I've seen A LOT of old NBA fights, though... Ya'll got SJW stink on you, lol! Just kiddin. Maybe you guys just don't like spiderman.

offense needed to run through Dwight. He was hurt, Harden exploded and from then on Dwight was nothing more than a rebounding defender.

I'll back Harden as long as he's a Rocket, but he's the one riding separately from the team, he's the one giving poor defensive effort,

Oklahoma City is gonna beat the spurs because of their "back court". Not because Serge Ibaka is carrying the scoring load. Dwight Howard will never win a championship. They don't call three's daggers for nothing.

How can you guys say the game has changed to support the shooters and then say Dwight should be the offensive leader of the team in the same breath?

I wouldn't mind a bit of tinkering back away from being so guard friendly but I can manage.
Same here. The only way I can see it happening though is if they get rid of the zone defense. You can basically drop your entire defense into a dominant post big man's lap nowadays. Before, you basically had to guard him one-on-one. Plus, now bigs want to be Durant and Dirk.

If Howard was wiser he had his best shot to ever chip with Stan Van Gundy.

SVG had it right. If you are gonna build around an around the rim center in the modern era, you absolutely NEED to surround him with shooters.

I think the window for Howard to be the main cog on a championship caliber team has passed. One of the smarter landing spots I have heard was actually the Celtics. I think Stevens is one of the few coaches right now that both would take on the challenge and could make it work. The Spurs would be perfect but the Spurs likely have no interest in him given what they look for in players.

I just told you why. In the playoffs against Portland, he was amazing. He played like a top 5 player in the league. I wanted them to run the offense through him like Orlando did, but he was hurt the next year.

I wouldn't suggest running it through him now. He is on the decline, but going into last season I wanted to see it.

I'm mainly saying that all this talk about Dwight being a "bitch" is by douchebag message board posters. I've been really happy with him in Houston and side with him over Harden, who despite being super talented has been a bad leader.

Not sure who said that. But as far as Dwight goes...he'll never be the lead offenisve guy on championship team because, in a dozen years in the league he's never developed his offensive game enough to do that...not because he's a big man or doesn't shoot 3s. His offensive game is almost no better than it was when he was in his early 20s.
