As others have said in here, take some lessons.
I would, but I've got too many hobbies as it is. I'd like to hit the range once or twice a week and just be good enough to play a round once in a while.

I've never had a lesson. Just little tips from people I've played with. A few weeks ago I played with a 12 year old that beat me by about 10 strokes. Just watching his swing actually helped me. I'll shoot anywhere from low 80s to high 90s on any given day. Good enough to play with a good golfer and not slow them down, which was my only goal when I started.
If I took a lesson they might change everything I do and screw me up worse than I am now. That's what is stopping me from doing it. That and I don't practice, just don't really have the time for it.

That's my main goal, too.
How long did it take to get to that level?

What kind of score do you consider just good enough?

Never played a round, so no idea. Have only been to the range ~10-15 times. Although I do have two sets of clubs

The game is a lot more enjoyable when you aren't just hacking it out there.

Took about a year for me I guess. It depends on how often you will be able to play. Don't be ashamed of picking up your ball and playing from the fairway where somebody else is. That helped me alot. And don't get frustrated, which is damn near impossible sometimes (this is where cold beer comes in handy).

i will cut you a deal only $150 per hr for lessons

I'd like to hit the range every saturday and sunday morning. And then play a round once a month or so when I have a decent swing

Sell one of your sets of clubs to fund lessons, start smoking and doing deadlifts and you'll be off to a good start.

I've also heard if you can custom paint your clubs it will shave a couple strokes. Just search previous threads for painting tips.

Didn't you want me to do some work on your shot gun recently?
