I'm in no way saying they have to do anything for him.

But The Bluffs values GN enough to participate. They feel it drives business to their course they feel otherwise wouldn't come (I'm assuming). So I think it would be good for business to help someone out during a genuine misunderstanding with the 3rd party that the course signed up for.

I don't think courses should have the "don't have to do shite for customers" attitudes with the golf industry like it is now.

They should have handled the day of. That's how I've gotten rained out rounds handled.

Usually they just refund me on the phone.

Yea I agree it's gotten bad, but I believe that was from years of being super relaxed about it. Now courses are in times of financial hardship and are trying to cut back IMO

I should have asked more questions or called golfnow that morning instead of the bluffs. golfnow is telling me the bluffs can email their market manager for a change and the refund will happen. if not I will just call the cc and dispute the charges.
regardless I'm done with golfnow.

weave, you seem pretty anti golfnow, but its completely up to a course to participate

i think i heard that golfnow keeps a significant chunk of the green fee, so I'm not sure what the big incentives for the course are

if the charge originated from golfnow, i would think they are the only ones that can issue a refund, even though i would have made sure it was taken care of the day it was raining, or I would have driven out to play my round

eta: regardless of terms & conditions, if I were either GN or the bluffs, I would issue a refund just to keep the customer.....especially if he is a regular user, but I don't run a business

Usually you call golf now and they call the course. The course calls the shot on if it's playable or not. If they tell golf now no you get a refund.

I'm not a fan, primarily because they had no regard for our tee times and would double book us like crazy. Some guy would come in and get mad because he couldn't use the 0910 tee time on a Saturday he booked 20 min before. We usually fit them out in the end but it started to become a headache.

I tend to agree, but they may have motivation to act differently.

Agreed. Just good business. If I was in the situation and the Bluffs refunded or gave me rainchecks, I'd try and bring a foursome and spend a decent bit of money in the pro shop (sleeve of balls, drinks, etc.)

I'll drop 30 bucks in a pro shop on top of greens fees if the staff is helpful and nice. I buy a towel at every course I play. Never mind tossing some extra bucks to a course.

thats mighty white of you

i've always been a dealchaser when it comes to golf....i buy discount cards, use golfnow, etc.

i almost refuse to pay full price unless its on vacation or something along those lines

i do this because the options are out there, so I take advantage of them

as for spending money in the proshop, i have about 250 bucks in proshop credit right now that I haven't spent because I don't like the prices on most of the items i want

The way golf now works is they get one tee time per day from the golf course to sell for what ever amount they want. Then all the other tee times are hosted for the course by golfnow and they only charge a booking fee to the player when the tee time is reserved. The balance is due when you check in for your tee time. If there is a scheduled tee time and it no shows the course has to ask golfnow to charge the customer, since they have the credit card on file. Golfnow does not do it automatically.

If you worked out how much I pay a round at MSU, I bet it's less than 10 bucks. And I'll find deals on GolfNow when out of town. But I'll still buy my towel and probably at least a drink. Never buying clubs or anything big probably. I'll scope deals on that.

I also figure I'm gonna be getting free rounds on the reg as a superintendent, so I don't mind paying now.

Maybe I'm just too closely involved in the industry.

I had a punch card for that round and I have another one for this year

Their cart fee was a little outrageous though, something like 30 bucks or some shite
