Those days are over. Name's on the wall though.

What would it do if I cut the shaft on the 910 I've got down to 43 inches?
How's that going to affect the swing. I've been told it'll take distance off the drive.

It will make you more able to buck the wind at La Tour. Get the hack saw and get to work

You've been told unintelligently.

So what would cutting the shitty insert job off, which is affecting the left hand grip, of a 43 inch shaft that was extended to 45 inches?
When I get to the top of the back swing, I feel something flex, because this insert isn't the same diameter as the shaft? It actually gets smaller in diameter towards the butt. I've tried adding extra tape to take out some of the play from underneath the grip, but I'm afraid that isn't going to fix the problem long term. I could either cut it back to 43 inches, or replace the entire shaft, which I really didn't anticipate on having to do when I bought the god damn fricking POS.

I've read adding the other, heavier, weight insert could help to correct that particular issue.
What do you think? Didn't you hit the 910 at one point.

Just add enough tape to make it flush with the original shaft and it will be fine

Yes, I played it 44.5 and added a couple strips of lead tape

I added to extra wraps at the butt to build it up, and the usual strip that goes down the shaft.
I think I still feel the discrepancy in diameter at the top, when I make the move back down to the ball.

So, in other words, this was a standard shaft that was cut to 43 inches at some point. Then, subsequently, someone added a 2 inch insert to this 43 inch shaft, that is smaller in diameter towards the butt than the actual shaft.

Don't I know it. I'd like some explanations about a lot of things at this point.

I didn't want to say it was wrong what he said, cause it is possible, but it affects a lot more than that and swing weight.
The shaft will be stiffer.
The kick point will move.
Depending on what end it is cut, it will affect the dynamics of the shaft.
It will be lighter.
It will obviously be shorter.
Was the original shaft before the insert for some reason made at 43 inches? This makes a difference (though I highly doubt it was made for that length).
An extension doesn't necessarily change the dynamics of the shaft, it just shifts them (if that makes sense).
If either replace the shaft to standard with the right specs, or give it to somebody who knows how to put a proper extension in.

How hard is it to get this extension out, and add one that would extend the shaft to 45 inches, and have it work properly....i.e., not feel like the grip is flexing in my hand at the start of the downswing?

It had been a standard 45 inch shaft, that was cut to 43, and then extended back to 45 inches.
