What business are you in? LT has some heavy hitters too

I think Ellendale is probably loosening up to an extent because of oilfield money. The entire economy around here runs off of it, so it is no longer just a dr and lawyer club. They have more members for sure, but I always feel like I am doing something wrong being there. Most people at LaTour DGAF what you do as long as you stay out of their way and don't frick up their course or beer drinking

Well, that's because of the old 'established' families that don't want new money around. It insults them, and their tee times.
That's why I thought the alternative is more my thing.

I have friends that are members of both. Both are great I guess it just depends where you fit in. But don't be fooled, there are members or frequent players at La Tour that could buy Ellendale, and I'm sure vice versa is true. Lots of unknown or low key money around here

Where should I play this weekend? Beaver or bluffs.

Bluffs greens were garbage a couple of weeks ago

Or the island?
Greens were nice last Sat. I'd ask to see when they are going to punch them before scheduling tee time

I might be throwing in the towel for a little while. Played 9 at webble today and completely lost everything. Couldn't find a fairway, skulling it, pop ups, it was like I had never played before. This kind of shite pisses me off. Just shot an 81 in houston and today every part of my game is shite.
How the frick does this happen? This is the shite that pisses me off about the game, these little spats where everything goes to shite.

I'm reading the Haney book. The story about Tiger scaring them when skiing and then not G'ingAF tht everyone was mad that he did it was great

Have you made it to the part where he (one of the special ops guys) says Earl was talking to them from the grave?

Well I did not break 100 at Red Tail in Devens, MA. We played from 6700 yards which is really fricking far. The rough was fricking 4 inches thick right off the fairway. If you weren't in the fairway or bunker you were pretty much screwed. And the greens were difficult as shite. One hole I had to putt perpendicular to the hole, along the fringe, and it still ran 5 feet passed the hole once it dropped 90 degrees. It was a beautiful and fricking difficult course. The elevation changes were awesome but made it even more difficult. One par 5 you had to hit up 50 feet off the tee, then on the second shot it was down 100 feet and then the green was elevated 50 feet above the end of the fairway. I got a sweet sandy par on a par 3 and a par on one of the par 5s. I got to blame most of it on the rented clubs, but really it was the course and my inconsistent swing. I started 8, 8 (par 4, par 5) and then we played 6 of the front 9 again and I got bogies on both those holes (finished that 6 with 1 par, 4 bogies, and double). I only took a few pictures, but here is one of the holes. I went into the shite to the right, duffed the 2nd then got up and down for par some how.
This was a tough par 5 too
I really want to play this course again... with my own clubs... from slightly closer tees hahaha

Tl:dr
looks awesome. Even though you didn't score, sometimes being there is good enough

after starting 8, 8 the sandy par I got on the 3rd hole made my round worth it.
