Don't lose hope ryno. It will come back eventually. My last lesson I was doing the exact same thing, club face was wide open. I had to hit one bucket of ultra nerd Shots by swinging as slow as possible doing quarter swings. Then after that another bucket of 40-50 mph half swings. Finally clicked at the end and I was hitting half swing shots straight and reasonably long that would be in play on any course. Then my homework was to got the range three days a week for 2 weeks hitting a bucket of balls half swing with one club. It was all in my swing plane and I had to relearn it.
