Maybe this is true in the Big 10 unless other programs make good hires and invest like Illinois and Indiana are today. But it just isn’t the case in the SEC. The bottom 5 programs don’t really have much of a shot today, but everyone else has the money and the resources to do it. Just last year South Carolina and Ole Miss were on the doorstep, and neither are power programs in the conference. Mizzou was just on the outside 2 years ago before the field expanded. Teams like OU, UF and Auburn aren’t going to stay down.
11 out of 16 teams having a shot to make a run and the top 6 able to make it any given year are pretty fricking good odds. On the other hand, you are likely scrapping for one spot most years. The SEC will get 3-5.

Week 0 is such a teaser. After a decent Iowa St-KSU game, I flip through the channels and find the WNBA, horse racing and the Little League WS.

Right. I already mentioned Fickell making the move up and struggling. Dan Mullen going to UF is another great example. He never would have been fired at State with the records he had at UF. They could live with an occasional down year because of his overall performance there was better than what they’ve been able to do historically.
But he was a terrible fit at UF because he wasn’t willing to adjust his recruiting philosophy from that lower pressure job where he could afford to develop and coach’em up. You can’t do that at a place like UF.
I hope Campbell and Kleiman stay right where they are. Leopold too. They are great fits for those schools, but not necessarily just anywhere else.
I’ll say this. If I were a Kentucky or State fan, I would want to throw a bank at Kleiman to move to the SEC. I like Campbell as a coach, but Kleiman runs an offensive system that’s a little different. That can make you more of a challenge to prepare for, similar to Leach at State.

It is amazing to me how K State fans and KU fans pull for one another. SEC schools, especially among rivals or in state schools, not so much

I’m a little surprised that a Mountain West Network exists. The other G5’s just have deals with ESPN.

I can't believe it took all of one quarter for UNLV fans to experience the Merlin special by under-performing against over-matched competition meant to be a rent-a-win.
FWIW, if you have a Roku there is a Mountain West app that you can use to watch the game on a TV. Not sure if it's also on Apple TV or FireStick but I assume it is if it's on Roku. It was a bit of a chore to find though.
