I wouldn't say it's a complete failure, and I think this iteration of the Rockets is the most analytics driven. They have completely abandoned size so they could open the lane for Harden/Westbrook to drive and finish or drive and kick. The difference was the last couple of years in the playoffs when Harden was trapped or double teamed, Chris Paul is one of the most reliable ball handlers of all time and he's a career 37% 3 point shooter so teams can't sag off of him. Westbrook is a career 30% 3 point shooter (and shot 25% this season). Lakers know they don't even need to guard Westbrook outside of him driving to the basket.
Yeah I think all that is fair. And I’m also with you on the Warriors series - I do think even with CP3 they probably lose. But that shouldn’t be viewed as a detriment to what Houston did. I don’t think the 90s bulls would beat that iteration of the Warriors with KD. It’s an unrealistic bar to set for a team - to call them failures for not beating GSW.
But yes Westbrook is the biggest issue with this team. Didn’t like the fit when they made the trade and like it less now. I still don’t know what Morey thought or saw with Russ. He can’t be analytically friendly when you consider his salary vs his shooting efficiency. He’s a guy who provides no threat without the ball in his hand and you already have your guy in Harden who you want to have the ball in his hands at all times making the decisions. Just an awful fit and a weird move for a GM who has more hits than misses

I don't think they had another option to move cp3 contract.

Rockets had been undefeated all season when shooting 40% from 3PT. Houston hit 40% the last 3 games and lost them all. Bang bang Laker gang.
Going to have to shoot 50% to beat goat show

Pretty crazy the Rockets are good enough to G sweep anyone but GOAT Warriors, yet somehow they're going to get G swept by a team nowhere near the best version of the Warriors.

James Harden is just a myth come playoff time.

Whats even more crazy is how sure everyone has been about how "not good" this laker team is, every single step of the way since last June, yet here we are

Huge advantage for the Clippers. It would have been all Laker home games at Staples.

You and everyone here all agreed that they dont have elite 3pt guys, and for 5 years the warriors tricked us all into thinking you needed 50 guys like that to win a title.
This series proves you can just be bigger too.
