The Big 10 is a descent baseball conference.

They’re a lot better than some people assume they are. However, I think the conference’s only other win this year was OSU over McNeese, and Michigan lucked out not having to play Oregon State even one time.

It also didn’t hurt getting sent to the PAC 12 regionals. That conference was clearly a fraud this year. And now they’re going through their half of Omaha without facing the best team in their bracket.

The B1G is def a conference on the rise. The conference had what, 5 teams make the NCAA field this year? Ohio St, Indiana, Illinois, Nebraska and Michigan. Maryland and Minnesota are usually pretty solid as well. I think B1G teams are finally investing in their facilities like Ohio St going to field turf. This eliminates having to play the first 20 games on the road and starting off slow. This allows more home games and to better overall records. Hopefully the conference continues to put and emphasis on keeping the top talent from going South to play.

that run for the title is and was unprecedented.

and it only happened because our shitass AD made the team switch to Nike bats just before postseason. If we had kept our equipment we'd been using all season we absolutely cruise in that 08 postseason.

FWIW, Corvallis is at almost exactly the same latitude as Minneapolis.

Very true. But Oregon is still on the West Coast while Minnesota obviously is not. Really can’t compare the two.

When Oregon State won in ‘06, they had established themselves as a damn good team that year, but had little history. As a college baseball fan, I was very surprised to see them knock off a team like UNC with relative ease.

OSU got to Omaha in '05 and had lots of talent.

I read an article several years ago about how hard of a time Pat Casey had building that program. There was a point where Casey told Pat Murphy he was gonna resign because he thought he couldn't win there
