Almost every HS in the country has a baseball field. How much does it cost? It can’t be that much?

You are telling me they can’t afford to maintain it? Is it on campus? I mean they have campus landscapers right? They can’t mow it?

That seems like a horrible excuse. Especially the no dirt part. I mean D3 schools probably have the players do the dirt just like HS kids do. It’s not THAT hard.

Doesnt seem to negatively impact the program.

It's just outside campus. The sports facilities are just down the street from main campus, football, baseball, and basketball.

Many share fields.

And many of the ones out there are not on the level of a college field

None of this is needed with a turf field. If you don’t have to do it, don’t do it.

Texas previous turf was like concrete. It gave them a major home field advantage, including in the SRs, being used to played on a lightening fast field all the time. It’s more a “normal” turf now.

Watching this game at Stanford. How huge is the space behind home plate compared to other stadiums? It looks like it’s 100ft to the backstop.

Very few schools invest serious capital in baseball, so when you see one of these teams like Wake that pops in out of nowhere every few years - there facilities for baseball will reflect that.
