Vin Scully calls Nolan Ryan's 5th no-hitter

September 26, 1981. Ryan broke Sandy Koufax' record of 4 no-hitters, games Scully also called.

Ran across this last week. As you'd guess, Vin's call was miles better than the NBC broadcast of it.

My grandfather was a huge Nolan fan. I watched this game with him on NBC back when I was in the 4th grade. First live no-hitter I ever saw. Good times.

Man, thanks for posting this. I was at this game with my dad and one of my older brothers. I was 11. We sat in the right field mezzanine of the dome. Both of them have passed on, so this is a special memory for me seeing this clip.

That was young Vin, had only been calling games about 30 years at that time.

He was barely a rookie at Koufax's last in 1965, only been calling games 15 years by then.

I was watching on TV. Dodgers hitters were looking stupid against that Ryan curve.
