I figure Miami winning out would be better than say, Miami winning today and then playing an epic game with Clemson where both teams look amazing.

if Miami losses today one of those teams will be knocked out next weekend no matter what.

The only team OSU "wants" to win if there is one is Bama. Knocks Bama out from taking the 4 slot with the SEC champ getting in, which we have no idea if that would happen.

You ask me Bama isn't getting in if they lose tomorrow. Their resume isn't good

I wonder in this scenario would Miami still be in. Given they’re still no. 2 entering the game

No because they lost. And they’ll get punished

Alabama should be Out also. But then again what we looking for? A champion or best team? Until they define that, the CFP is a farce.

I mean yea everyone losing ahead of them is good for sure, and anyone who is good wins for the teams ahead of them losing is good too. Stanford beating ND hurts Miami's resume a bit, last night game's helped by hurting Bama's resume etc.

That was big in 2014 IMO when OU lost bedlam and lost a top 25 win for both Baylor and TCU

I definitely think they’d get in. You’re sitting at #2 and your only loss is a hard fought contest in your league championship to the now #2 team in the country.

They’d have a great shot at getting in.

They shouldn’t be in though

What Championship did they win? To play for a national championship in football you should be a champion of a conference

That’s why they need to define are we looking for best team or national champion
If best team then expand the playoff if champion leave and only winners.

They’re not good and playing lucky

Do you know where that quote came from?

Holtz said it about Colorado in 89 and it made everyone pissy. He was right though.

Let’s not turn this into a conference championship importance thread.

We ain’t gonna agree.

Who? Miami?

Even Richt knows it. He said the other day that he’s honestly not sure if they’re better than they were last year. Said they lost really close games last year and at the time, they had won 4 straight this year by a combined 18 points.

They’re solid, nothing special in the slightest.

So by this, if Bama loses against UGA...they shouldn’t be in?

Yep

National Champion doesn’t mean best team. But people are so hung up on best team has to be national champion
