vandy should be LSU's biggest fan right now. if LSU beats uga and florida then both of them will have 2 losses before they play the cocktail party. the loser of the cocktail party would be out of the east running with 3 losses. therefore, vandy could go ahead and lose both to florida and uga and get in the sec championship with wins over miss st, uk, and tenn (all of which i could see happening) if the winner of the cocktail party lost another game somewhere (giving them 3 sec losses too). really watch out if they somehow pull the shocker against uga or florida, which they have had on the ropes seasons before.

Auburn wouldn't suck if they had a good offense. Their defense is great, as well is Tommy Tubberville.

I think Vandy's good team that doesn't beat itself, but not good enough to win the East. They could drop any of their remaining games and I wouldn't consider it an upset.

theres a chance they could be an 11 win team. if ole miss can beat florida at florida, i give vandy a fighting chance to beat em at home. the only one that i think they have no chance of is the georgia game. but who knows.

To me this is a great argument that the SEC "top to bottom" is overrated this year -- just to play devil's advocate. Come on now, it's still VANDERBILT. You can only do so much with one and two star players, even "heady" players.

Does an undefeated, SEC Champion Vanderbilt go the Championship game over a one loss Ohio State or USC?

I would assume so, but to be 100% honest...

no way in hell does Vandy go undefeated(IMO).

This is what is wrong with college football. If Notre Dame was undefeated with Vandy's schedule, they would be #2 in the nation. Does anybody truly believe Notre Dame is better than Vanderbilt this year?

I think it's the opposite. I think it shows just how strong the SEC is top to bottom, while maybe not being quite as top-heavy as previously thought.

How fans of perennial powerhouses shrug off teams on the rise:

"Well, [team 1] can't be legitimate even though they beat [team 2] and [team 3] because they are still [team 1]."

I.E. Kansas and Missouri last year. Let's admit that Vandy is having a great season thus far, and playing some great football. You can't assume that all of a sudden they are going to "revert back to being Vandy." An undefeated team IS Vanderbilt this season, and when they lose 2 or 3 of those games, it's not fair to say, "Well, looks like they're becoming Vandy again." Let teams have a great year and stop pretending like recruiting is the only key to success in college football.

Vandy can beat:

Tennessee
Kentucky
Miss State

That would put them at 6-0, still 1 game ahead of everybody.

If they pull of a major shocker and split with Florida and Georgia, and the Florida/Georgia game goes the right way for them, they're in.

Probably won't happen though.

Vandy can lose to both Florida and Georgia and still win the East. Need some help from LSU or Auburn though.

That would just be comical.

They would need for both LSU and Auburn to beat Georgia and Florida. It's not happening. They have to beat one of them, at least.
