In 2003? It's been nine years. I don't know if it takes extra time for news to get to the west coast, but things have changed since then.

USC - (Auburn X2, Arkansas X2)

Still makes me laugh after all these years...in 4 games the SEC was able to muster just 48 points and their vaunted defenses took a pounding - USC was too physical for Auburn in that 2003 meeting and made the SEC East winner Arkansas look like Troy State.

but..but things have changed. No way SC could compete now with any of the juggernauts from the SEC. SEC teams go undefeated every year during bowl games, they're just completely unbeatable

Auburn did a better defensive job than anyone else did on that Leinart, Bush team. The only scores USC got were short field scores off dumb Auburn turnovers. Auburn's problem for that year was an offensive idiocy at the top resulting in lousy QB play - they had lost Petrino to Louisville and had decided to promote their water boy to offensive coordinator.
FWIW, I'm not much tongue in cheek above. Their offensive coordinator in 2003 was a one year disaster (after losing Petrino) and it held them back badly in spite of a very good defense and some incredible talent at running back. When they replaced the OC by 2004 things turned around pretty strikingly
