I love the way the experts like to choose who will play for the national title.
That's not quite what he did.

How would / could the "voters" deny an undefeated National Champion from defending its own title???
We're not the media darling that $C and Oklahoma are and that's why.
Take note how $C jumped others in the polls. Well, if LSU goes undefeated and the other two are as well, the media will then make the case that you can't jump other teams in the polls.

If LSU wins out, we'll go over OU.

I disagree, if an SEC team goes undefeated, they are in ahead of OU.
Agreed, but chances of an SEC team running the table are slim. OU and Mizzou have the best chance of running the table IMO. Wiscy and PSU have a chance too but they would end up in the Rose Bowl.

That's where OU and USC played the Turd bowl last time. It's a sure fire way for USC to walk over an overrated team and look like world beaters. Both teams have really now shown me anything but OU definitely has the harder road to that championship. USC really plays NOONE and that includes an Ohio State team that just seems snake bit.

It seems that if that were to happen...
even lawsuits could ensue....a lot of $ at stake
or grow the push for a Championship
??????????????????

Did anyone read the whole article? Mandel says anything can happen.

So yes, it would appear as of now that USC and Oklahoma have both the personnel and the favorable enough schedules to run the table (though remember, the Trojans have lost at least one Pac-10 game they had no business losing the past two seasons, and I'm sure Texas and Missouri are itching for their shots at the Sooners)

Bingo. ESPN has taken so much control of CFB that they do everything within their power to push the teams that have them as their PRIMARY network AND who they feel will generate the biggest audience for them. Give them an inch and ESPN/ABC will control the entire sport and turn it into a collegiate form of the WWE. Every year will see a championship game that is chosen by the network.

Did you read the article or just the title? Mandel was saying that both teams look good but he was not ready to anoint them yet --- it is a long season.

How? You would have 3 undefeated teams like we did in 2004. One has to be left out and the media will help make that decision as much as possible.

They get paid for writing colums--not for being correct. Being correct is irrelevant since nobody will remember at the end of the season any way.
You probably didn't mind last year when everybody was saying USC and LSU would meet for the BCS.
All we have to worry about is winning the SEC West for now.

LSU will have 2 possibly 3 losses this year, so it doesn't really matter as far as LSU is concerned. I would love nothing more than to have 3 teams with undefeated records. This would just put more pressure on the higher ups to come up with a playoff someday in the distant future.

If they were to leave LSU out,
I think they would have a legal case being the Defending National Champs...they would have to be undefeated, or all bets are off.
The part of "one has to be left out"
would not apply to LSU...only "one" is the Defending National Champion.
in 2004, the "third" team was not the Defending National Champion

You've gotta love the threads about USC wallpapered throughout TD.com. At least 2-3 threads on the first page of almost every board. Just when oine goes away, poof, another replaces it. What is up with that?

The evidence does NOT support you.
2003- LSU and USC each had 1 loss. The "media" darlings USC did not get in ahead of us.
2007- LSU and USC each had 2 losses. The "media" darlings USC did not get in ahead of us, not to mention a few other 2 loss schools.
2007- We play a really sloppy game against Tulane, and LSU jumps the "media" darlings USC to #1 in the polls after week 5, with both teams still undefeated.
If the media actually influenced the polls like people claim on here, NONE of those 3 things would have ever happened.

So, using your logic, they chose LSU over USC last year right?
Therefore:
LSU=Media darlings
Moreso than USC.
I'm not saying that is so, but that is what YOU are saying, by your logic.

You've gotta love the USC fans who are on the LSU message board with over 7,000 posts. If USC fans didn't care what LSU fans said they would be here to start with. What is up with that?
