Also, PC took a mediocre, declining programs and built it into the power Kiff is reigning over today.

he took over USC. you act like he took over Tulsa and made them a national power.

Saban at Bama is the same thing. Saban didnt go to some no name school and make them a national power.

stanford was a much better team that year. are you really arguing that?

USC had that game won and lost it due to bad in game coaching. That was my point.

Kiffin lost to UW in '09 and '10 and Sark had less overall talent.

You people minimalizing PC's work at SC are funny.

One of the greatest coaches in college football history.

Plenty of us have acknowledged that he did a good job and had some great teams. But he didn't take a program over that had no football tradition. And because we are informed college football fans, we are aware of the success other programs had during his tenure.

Are you aware? Not as much. But we can teach you. You can learn from us. We are here to help you. Are you willing to become a more informed fan? That's up to you.

no but he did take over a program that was pretty bad. Kids out here back then weren't growing up SC fans like many of you like to believe. Pete awakened a sleeping giant that had fallen on hard times. Some of you just hate SC and want to downplay the impact Pete had on this program.

Lets put some prespective on this here...

When Saban took over LSU they were in a much worse position that USC was when PC took over. And I think Saban built a bigger giant at LSU that pete built at usc. Just to say. Miles has kept it going better than Kiffin will do at USC. IMO/.

But it was always a program that was capable of being a power if a competent coach came along. Pete couldn't have had the same caliber teams at Iowa State. The tradition is just not there.

That's what SC fans like to complain about when they come across other fans who don't have any particular fondness toward SC.

you are too funny bro. of course he wouldn't have the same caliber of team at Iowa St but tell me what great coach in your mind would? would saban or miles have the same type of teams at Iowa St as they do now? what a ridiculous comment

I forgot about all those Big 10 titles and NC appearances Saban had at Michigan State.

That comment is not ridiculous when you have people acting as if Pete invented the football tradition at USC.

I don't know about LSU but when Petey took over, USC was probably in its worst state in history.

Having just fired the worst coach USC ever had (Hackett) with a 19-18 record and no buzz or mojo around the program. It was so bad and the vibe was so demoralizing...all the Cali kids were going to Oregon, Cal and Washington...hell, even UCLA exploded for one year.

I can't comment on the status of USC

LSU was not nearly as bad off when Saban took over as we were when Dinardo and Hallman took over. The nadir was Archer. Hallman was a terrible coach, but in his defense, he did take over a steaming pile of poo of a program. Oddly he recruited probably then best NFL player LSU has produced in quite some time, Alan Faneca.

Damn, I wish our worst coach was 19-18

LSU was starting from a lower place than USC circa 2000. USC did have Palmer and Polamalu, LSU had some talent in place when Saban got there as well.
