Adu got a yellow card in each of the first two games, as did bradley and therefore is ineligible.

Dutch are up 1-0
If either Japan or the US doesn't tie, US is out.
This is up there with the US Germany WC match in 2002 for me... So frustrating the US are on the outside looking in.

Here's to hope

What a strike. But man our individual defending is so weak.

Well... our only hope now is Japan getting an equalizer against the Dutch.

Counting on an asian country is never a good thing

We literally gave away these last two games. fricking shite. It is obvious that we don't have the individual talent that the other countries do, but we should have beat Holland, and we shouldn't given Nigeria a man advantage. frick!

We should have scored, but let's hope they score this penalty kick.

I'm trying to think of a good college football comparison here...
Is the US like a Clemson? Never quite able to get over the hump?
Or perhaps like Iowa, one great season (the WC victory over Mexico and near win against Germany) followed up by raised expectations and diminishing results...

We are so so close. We have so many players playing in Europe. The MLS is a decent league. I just don't know what we need.

That was close. Charlie Davis should have played instead of McBride and Altidore shouldn't been taken off. frick, I care way too much about this. Thank god this is a shitty tournament.

Nice attempt at a comeback, but we were in a massive hole from the beginning.

This is devastating. We absolutely outplayed the Dutch, and now this nonsense.
Oh well.
Bring on Guatemala and Cuba (WC qualifying starts soon)

Denied by the cross bar, and Japan blowing their chance. Even with 10 men USA outplayed Nigeria at the end, you cant fault the players for not trying their best.

Well at least we showed well at the U-20 World Cup, and that is a more important tournament than this. I was impressed by some of the play. Charlie Davies needs to get some time with the first team squad. I also want to see some guys like Kamani Hill and Gabriel Ferrari get their chance. There are some young teenagers like Byran Arguez and Ellis McLoughlin playing in Germany right now that I think could help the next Olympics.

We have a lot of options up top that I would also like to see like Sal Zizzo, Preston Zimmerman, and Johann Smith. American soccer is entering what could be a very fruitful period if the proper coach is in place.

someone explain this logic to me (i didnt see the match)

you are down a goal, KNOWING you need to tie to advance, and you replace Altidore, who could potetnially be the best striker we have ever had, with benny fricking feilhaber? what the hell
