What time does the broadcast start? Also why are the best final races at 11 pm est ffs

quote:It was built for big events and I wouldn't be shocked if there is a long term deal between USATF and Oregon to keep it there. As far as NCAAs, they held indoors inside the RCA Dome/Indy in the 90s before moving to Arkansas. Nothing is close to being that bad for travel (my in-laws and I had to drive through the night and barely got there in time for my wife's event). At the time they had the best facility in the country so it made sense. For Outdoors they traveled around the country. IIRC, my wife competed at Boise State, Buffalo, Duke, and I believe Indiana. That was before they went to the regional meet qualifying system. I think they've leaned on the regional meets as the "accessible" part of the championships with Oregon giving the national meet a Big Time feel.
I get its a great stadium and everything but I really wish this meet (US champs) and NCAAs moved around more.
With all that said, I'd be shocked if the 2028 Trials aren't in LA. It would be ridiculous if they didn't take advantage of running on that Olympic track. Ridiculousness is part of the equation though so who knows. It's crazy the USATF brings UCS into Oregon after they've just had Gill for the NCAA meet.

Oh there definitely is some sort of deal in place and understandably so given how much went into building the facility. I get it I just feel like it sucks that it’s in this “remote” area that’s tough/expensive to get to.
Part of me is just salty they had to scrap the old heyward for the new stadium so some of my stance is just negative to begin with. I wish they would’ve built new heyward in Portland/beaverton near the Nike campus and left the old stadium alone. But a lot of that is just sentimental feelings that probably aren’t based in what realistically could have happened.
It would make sense for them to do trials there in ‘28 but I also wouldn’t be surprised if there’s some sort of ironclad thing in the contract that trials have to be in Oregon.

They won't because it's another event we'd dominate. I agree though, put it into the program.
I don’t know man I could see Kenya/Ethiopia putting together some tough teams. Plus GB and Norway with some of the talent they have now. I think we’d probably still be favored more years than not but not sure it’d be something we’d be projected to run away with every year/cycle either.

Never thought about this, but would have been awesome by the Nike Campus. Also would be easier to attend, at least you could stay in Portland, which while not super easy to get to, does have a lot of hotel rooms and the Nike Campus and Beaverton are both on the light rail so you could stay in the City (if you wanted) and get there without driving.

It would be like the Cubs tearing down Wrigley Field.

Nike owns USATF and is going to force everything to go through UO. Unless some other brand makes a nine-figure investment into the USOC, it's not going to change. I know LA wants it bad, but there's no way Nike doesn't try to get another payday pushing all their events through Eugene.

NBC giving off serious vibes that Anna Hall will be one of the faces of their Olympic T&F coverage.

Not exactly a great ad for EarPods staying in your ear there.

The world's #4 Discus thrower just fouled out in qualifying so we're likely only sending 2.
ETA: She was the 2023 world champion as well.

Nuguse ran a very smart race. Only way he doesn’t qualify is if the pace was slow. Worth it to drag everyone and ensure a spot even if means not winning.
Him ramping the pace made sure the right guys made the team.

Great to see Ellis get up after the fall and run herself into qualifying on the last 100m.

I wonder if they'll take Wilson to give him a look at the Olympics. He's obviously the future into the 30s.
