Watching the replay now. Rafa had held serve 66 times in a row and was only broken twice all tournament and he gets broken in his first service game of the match. 
Even though his accomplishments have been passed by, I actually think A+ Pete is the best level the game has ever seen. He was an untouchable servebot some matches with the rest of the game to back it up. Mid 2000's Fed was a freak, too. I'm not sure I feel Djokovic's top level is there, but he is racking up dominant years unlike anyone other than Fed now.

I don't think Nadal was ever as good as Bjorn Borg.
Peak McEnroe was better than Djokovic.
Those guys were more agile and had better touch.

Wow you really think Nadal was better than Borg? It’s close.
Borg went back to back French Wimbledon 3 years in a row. The top players didn’t play the Aussie because it was in December He retired early. Borg may really be better than Nadal. Nadal has won a slower Wimbledon so his double is not nearly as impressive.

IMO it's interesting how Rafa and Fed pretty much blister through tournaments and dominate their opponents before meeting up with Novak, only to get manhandled by the guy.
Novak's motivation is clear, he wants to obliterate these 2 dudes more than anything.

Thanks for that. It’s even funnier when you consider what Novak did to Rafa.
