This dude looks more like a 'Vegas guy' than a 'Jacksonville guy.'

Can't see it. MLB and the NFL have an irrational fear of gambling.

UNLV is one of the few western non BCS schools that has a realistic shot of getting a Pac 12 or Big 12 invite.

This is probably part of their push to show they are serious about moving up.

Or maybe just prettying themselves up for the "Big East."

they may jump to the Big East in the short term but they will be one of the western teams that gets an invite to either the Pac or Big12.

They're in a market with a big enough population and they make enough on athletics to justify running with the big boys.

I don't see the PAC-12 inviting UNLV with its crummy academics.

They'll build it, and UNLV football will be a low level tenant.

There's a lot of events in Vegas that need a venue. They'll pay for the Rebels to have a decent spot to play.

they are going to eventually have to give up that kind of snobbery if they want to expand for more $$$.

Unless they are going to reach into Texas and Louisiana to get schools like SMU and Tulane they don't have many options for getting to 14.

I wouldn't be shocked of they tried to get Houston eventually as well.

Looks great, but there are much more deserving programs than UNLV. LV would be a good bowl site, though, which is really what they're doing here (with the new championship agreement)

Exactly

UNLV's average attendance in seven home games this season was 15,208

Do you know how far away the stadium is from the campus?

They can pack every venue in Vegas with some type of event/show. If they can build this without going bankrupt it is viable idea.

They could legitimately bid for a Super Bowl. 60K would be on the low end, but I could see the NFL throwing them a bone.

all 32 NFL owners need to finance part so they have more leverage to build their new stadiums when the time comes

plus have pro bowls and super bowls there

maybe even an NHL Winter Classic (it averages 40s in January for Vegas, believe it or not)

Depends where they are proposing to build this. Anything to get the horse trailers off the already congested Strip imo.
