Didn't this also happen between T Tech and A&M?

It was at TT. Tech fans tore down the goal posts and there were still aggies in the stands, the TT fans then tried to bring the gp into the stands where the aggies were sitting. If anyone tried to rush the field at A&M there would be a riot. The corp would beat the frick out of them.

I agree. Neyland looks like it's going to be pretty nice when your renovations are completed.

I don't think it's a big deal that Iowa fans tore down the goal posts in the Metrodome. It's not like it's the University of Minnesota's property (like the new stadium). I think it would be the same as, say, Auburn fans tearing down the goal posts in the Superdome if they beat LSU there during a regular season game. Sure, we'd get pissed, but really, WTF does it matter?

BTW: Congrats Gopher fans on the new digs.

i am dying to see Minn vs Wisc in a blizzard, sometime in late november.

Stadium is nice. Always hated seeing Lawrence Maroney highlites in the metrodome. that building just screams parking garage

The best thing about the stadium and the new locker room and FB facilities is that it should help them recruit better. In all honesty they should be able to recruit better than Iowa and Wisconsin in that part of the big ten.

The University is in a nice part of MPLS and the area around campus "Dinkytown" is on par with any college town or area with the pluses of a major metropolitan area.

The recent rise of Iowa and Wisconsin in the big ten is proportional to the decline of Minnesota for the last 40 years.

The big ten will become more competitive and a much better conference with the rise of Minnesota and Michigan State and the good seasons by Penn State recently.

The big ten was not served well by the big 2 and little 8 and Iowa and Wisconsin and Illinois and Illinois have really benefitted from the declines of Minnesota and Michigan State since the 1970s.

Look for the big ten to have five powerhouse progrmas in Penn State, Ohio State, Michigan State, Michigan, and Minnesota.

I think we are seeing a critical mass of Minnesotans on this board.

They should have changed their mascot before getting a new stadium.

There are more gophers in MN than there are tigers in LA.

I wouldn't go that far. I think Penn St (for the foreseeable future) will be among the top, I think Michigan St is definitely rising but will be consistently fourth. Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota will consistently battle for the fifth spot. Now of course there can be seasons where certain teams go above or below expectations, but in general thats how I see it being for the next decade or so.

MAN!!!
They've managed to get all the bells and whistles that the high rollers MUST have...<rolls eyes>...yet it still feels like a real, college football stadium. Get the high rollers out the way, and leave the rest of the stadium for the fans.

And it's expandable at the open end, and above the one sideline.

I saw the stadium on Friday, obviously not a game day and it was raining, but I walked all around it and it was pretty sweet.

The scoreboards are enormous and it's right in the middle of campus. Didn't seem like there were many tailgate options but it's not like it is in the SEC. All of the sections are named after lakes and it is dug into the ground. I liked it, and it sounds like everyone is excited to get out of the dome.

FWIW, there is a Raising Canes about 1 block and a half away -- it was just funny to see.

I'm going to have to make a visit as well here at some point. Looks like it turned out pretty nice.

I'll need to see IU's new expansion as well.
