University of Cincinnati are hypocrites for taking Marge Schott's money

She left them $2 million in 2006. They named the library and baseball field after her as thanks. She made her racial comments in 1993 so they were aware of her background back then. They should cut a check to the family for removing the name in light of BLM.

Has the family asked for the money back?

It's hard for me to feel sorry for Marge Schott. She got banned in 1996, but it was hardly her first major issue with racism, anti-semitism and just being generally bad to work for/with.
I'm editing to add a link. Just looking at the incidents she admitted to...where's the Dave Chappelle gif T Bird used?
Wiki--See the section titled "controversies"
It's insane to me she did an interview admitting to calling two black players the n-word, claimed she was just joking, then defended Adolf Hitler in the same interview. That was only the tip of the iceberg with her.
And still retained ownership for a few years after that.

Does that matter?

Sure it does. If Marge donated the money with no strings attached, then the university shouldn't have to give it back.
If the family hasn't asked for the money back, then why is this thread even relevant?

I agree, but it’s the precedent. If they don’t like her and take her name off of facilities, they’ll just consider it reparations.

No they didn't. Take a look at the "other incidents" section of the link above. Beyond just the racism and anti-semitism, she did a lot else to alienate employees.

They should've said thanks but no thanks from the beginning.
Marge Schott was a well noted piece of shite with awful views and beliefs.

so it's okay to take money from known bigots as long as you don't give the bigots credit for giving the money
That is the big issue at play here

I get that, and I agree. Marge Schott was a terrible person.
But rather than give the money back to her family, they should donate it to organizations that help educate people on systemic racism. That would be money well spent.

her family/foundation already approved the name change. no one has any idea what they are talking about, per usual
