I was born and raised in New Iberia. Lafayette was next door. I never knew anything about North La. until I went to college at Centenary in Shreveport. I stayed up here and often visited my home town.
In 60 years of being an adult and paying attention I have to say that North La. folks have no animosity toward Cajun country. But Cajun country has lots of animosity toward the North. I don't know why.

!. You have to take everything you read there with a grain of salt. Many of the people on that board are our old, miserable fans that will complain about anything and are borderline senile.
2. North Louisiana is way different than south Louisiana. So I guess that's where it comes from? I dont have a problem with N. Louisiana. But it is very very different.

People seem to just base their opinions off of what they see Cajun fans say on the internet. Most Cajun fans and lafayette residents are really nice like you say.

NLa isn't the La that makes this state so unique. I'm not criticizing in the least because I actually love it up there. Upland woods, less ppl, and fantastic lakes are a few things that I enjoy about it. I've got a sister is Shrev and I love the ppl that she's become friends with. As for Laf..... I grew up about a hour north and absolutely hate the place. I now work in and around the area but can't wait to leave at the day's end. The ppl are just no longer genuine and the "cajun" thing is just BS. The current generation their has no fricking clue. Lots of the shite ppl that you speak of are poors from local communities who move into Laf and feel as if they've accomplished somthing extraordinary. It's quite comical.

I didn't make a gay joke. I said North Louisiana sucks all the dicks as in it's terrible. Sucking a dick seems like the most unpleasant thing I can think of, North Louisiana is comparable.

The 30 and under crowd in Lafayette is so late 90's. Wife beaters, tommy hilfigure polos and baggy jean shorts. Triple alt faded hair cuts with gelled up bangs and fake tans. I know it's not everybody, but it's enough to notice.

I think it's funny when I see the North La Tiger fans embracing the South La culture. You hear them say, "Go Tigahs" instead of Tygerrrs. You see them spelling "go" as "geaux." It's pretty sad and pathetic to me. Pretenders. North La is a different culture, but they try so hard to fit in.
