Missed the whole thing....is the entire main card worth re-watching? What about the pre-lims?

Why was the ME only 3 rounds?

It was a pretty decent card. The shape and size of Johnson's head makes me hate him. I'm pulling for a possible double ko from Johnson-Benavedez.

But why was the ME only 3 rounds? Aren't all MEs 5 rounders now....even on FX, Fuel, Fox, etc?

they were going to "sudden victory" if it was a tie.

Is Franklin/Wand 2 gonna be at catchweight again?

Dana White said:

"He said that he'd actually rather be cut than have to fight him. Dude, nobody wants to fight this guy. We're trying to match the guy up with somebody, but he didn't mind fighting Brandon Vera, so he's fighting Brandon Vera.

I don't want to sound like I'm disrespecting Shogun, because I'm not. I'm just telling the truth. It's verbatim what his people said when we talked to them. You know me. I tell it like it is. If you don't want that out in public, then don't say it to me on the phone, because I'm going to say what was said. Shogun's a warrior. The guy's fought everybody from PRIDE to the UFC. His last fight with Dan Henderson was awesome. It is what it is."

Shoguns people deny that. A Texeira-Rua fight is pointless right now.

Is it a Brazilian thing or Shogun just doesn't want anything to do with him?

I could be wrong, but I think it's kinda like BJ/Rory.

Why take the fight? A win would do absolutely nothing for you as both guys should be fighting people higher up on the totem pole at this point in their career (regardless of Rory/Glover's potential). Only thing is BJ accepted the Rory fight
Still not sure why. Except for the fact that BJ is a badass and would fight anyone, anywhere, anytime if compelled.....

Eta: it does piss me off how some Brazillians don't want to fight each other. Not saying this is the case at all here with shogun......but it's an individual sport, not a team sport and some of these guys need to get over it.

I think it is due to the tournament format. The Benevedez fight was 3 rounds and the original MM vs UC fight was 3 so I guess they wanted to stay with that.

Not sure. I would imagine it will be at 185, but I could see it being at 195 or 205. Neither guy is in title contention so it probably does not matter.

Bj is pretty much done unless he wants to get off his arse and make one last 155 run. Really nothing like the Shogun situation. A Macdonald win would at least give him some WW clout to put on a bigger fight against another guy, maybe Condit after he loses to GSP or something like that.

And he took that fight because he hates Tri-Star Gym/GSP, no doubt. He probably plans on licking Rory's blood and kissing Faras Zahabi on the mouth to piss GSP off or something. Rory even said he was told by Dana that BJ said he wanted to fight ROry (before Rory called him out).

Rory was on mma uncensored live the other day and man that dude needs to follow GSP to the stylist. He had ankle socks on with a suit with black tie and black shirt and greased hair. Then they announced you can vote to put Rory's face on some Edge shaving cream cans as his 500 whiteheads glisten off the camera lights.

yeah and on the off chance its a draw again, they aren't gonna have a sudden death round 6.

Attendance was 7k. They can fit at least 15 minimum in there. Possibly 20 depending on how they set it up.

I remember in 07 Beat2Sleep put on a card in the RiverCenter that had that many people at it and it was ALL amateur bouts.

Yeah, even the 125's would be dead for a round 6.
