But I don’t understand the bmf belt. Dustin already beat max twice and got knocked out when he fought for the bmf belt. Not to mention max just got knocked out while holding the bmf.

It’s just an honorary belt for guys who have a history and career of putting on exciting fights.
Masvidal beat Nate. Never defended it.
Gaethje beat Poirier.
Max beat Gaethje. Max lost actual featherweight title fight after.
Now Max vs Poirier 3. If Dustin wins and retires, the belt will probably disappear for few years until they want to make a slobberknocker fight and increase the hype. It’s just a fun gimmick.

It's a made up belt that is basically just brought out for fights that the promotion knows are going to be exciting. Nothing more, nothing less. Don't think too hard about it.
I wonder if this will be the only "title" fight on the card.
ETA: looks like the BMF title was the only title fight on the 291 card, so they may do the same here. They still haven't announced when the heavy weight fight will be though, but it may be 319. I doubt it's 320 as that is a Mexico card, but who knows who they will put on that one.

I know it will be a good fight but just bummed out because it is max. he already beat max twice... seems like the fight is all risk for dustin. I would have rather seen him take on a young gun like paddy or topuria to show that he still got it.

He wasn't sure he was going to fight again after the last one. This is his retirement fight, he's not interested in the grind unless there's a chance at the title - and he's at least a year or two away from one more chance for an undisputed title.

I think the BMF belt is pretty stupid as well but its just whatever at this point. Really excited to see who they fill the card out with. I dont need a bunch of washed LA fighters like Alan Jouban or Kurt Hollabough. Give me dustin and some ranked matchups

The UFC isn't going to risk an up and comer vs Dustin when they know he's on his way out. They are trying to build Paddy up, can't risk derailing that by having him lose to Dustin. Max just lost a title fight and isn't getting another soon as he just moved up to 155, they don't lose much if he loses to Dustin.
Topuria is fighting for the lightweight title.
