Just watched some of the fights:

- Thank you Dana and Joe Silva for giving Thales Leites a shot. Good God I hope I never see this guy again. Too bad Silva didn't break his leg with one of those kicks.

- Chuck needs to stop. That is all.

- Kongo continues to show vast improvement in his overall game. He might be a year away from a title shot.

- Nobody has mentioned Silva weighing in at 182 yet?

When Anderson got bored he threw a kick with his left foot that he threw behind himself. I'd like to see that in on of those clips if you guys see it somewhere.

he spent a lot of time on the ground praying after the fight with leites. i am unsure if that was because of the fans who sounded worst than a bunch of rednecks or if something very personal is bothering him.

oh well im not going to judge him and cast the first stone.

Its hard not to take the booing personal I think. Probably the first time I watched a fight where the booing actually bothered me. I just don't see how he was supposed to fight much differently??? You get all super aggressive with a guy that has that level of BJJ and you probably get your arm ripped off.

i have not posted yet in this thread, but that immediately caught my attention last night pre PPV

i thought you could only be 1 lb over or under in a title fight?

this was one of the more boring PPV's UFC has put on.......probably cause it was in Canada

chuck needs to hang up his gloves IMO FWIW IMHO it seems like he's trying to be the next randy couture.....NOT gonna happen, chuck!

kongo looked good

i'm just glad i didn't pay for this PPV

In a title fight, you can't be one pound over. I don't think there is an under limit as long as the person is in the range of the weight class.

not replying to Smack.

Silva was not fighting that way out of self preservation. He could have finished that guy any time he wanted. If anything letting the fight go 5 rounds, he was taking a chance that something fluky could have happened.

He appears bored and spent the whole fight clowning. Again, no way that was some "strategy for victory" as some suggest. Obviously he intended to win, but his corner was telling him to engage and questioning his actions. I think he just wanted a 5 round fight. That simple. He wanted one with Cote, but Cote's knee blew out. Afterwards, an upset Silva went and sparred for 2 more rounds.

Your average fighter wants to end the fight as quickly as possible to avoid the possiblity of getting hurt or losing. Evidently Silva does not fear either of these possibilities (at least in the last 2 fights), and for whatever reason wanted a 5 round fight. Hopefully now that he got one, he'll return to his normal destructive form.

anyone else excited about the possibility of Shogun becoming a factor at 205? I was really glad he won. He really didn't put to bed any of the questions surrounding his conditioning last night, but most picked him to lose (including me) and he looked pretty good.

I don't think he can ever be as dominant under UFC rules as he was in Pride, but he has the talent to change the landscape of the division.

Shogun did look good. I commented as such before he KO'd Chuck. Still.......Chuck is a walking concussion I think at this point. I don't even want to see him on a card any more. I am kind of stoked to see what Shogun will look like against a big time opponent now though, since he is healthy.

Not sure if this is the same article smack is quoting

Also found this one:

quote:

"Anderson Silva is the most talented fighter in the world when he lets his hands and feet and knees and elbows go and he didn't none of it tonight," said White during the ESPNRadio1100 postfight show.

"After being in this business for almost 10 years now, I've never been embarrassed of a UFC fight like I was in the main event tonight."

White was clueless in trying to explain what is going through Silva's mind:
"I'm trying to wrap brain around this thing and figure this out, I just cannot."
White said it got so bad in the middle of the fight he wanted to be anywhere but cageside in the midst of 21,000 angry fans"

"I was seriously sitting in my seat going, 'No, no this is not happening again.' I swear to god I wanted to leave tonight."

I think it's pretty obvious that Silva is either a) bored or b) pissed that they keep making him fight guys like Cote and Leites or c) all of the above. If there is no real deserving contender at 185, then let him fight a few at 205. I for one would much rather watch him fight a few legit 205ers than have to fight Cote or Leites because there is no one else at 185 to fight.

I thought there was a 5 pound under limit, or range to be considered a fair fight.
