I think Islam wins too. JDM has better boxing but I think Islam has more tools …kicks, grappling/wrestlinh ,submission, clinch.

womens divisions just fell apart. 5-10 years ago the womens divisions were fricking solid. you had about 8-10 killers between the 2-3 divisions.

Yep, for a stretch there the women's division, especially the top, was more entertaining than the men's. It's been so bad lately. It feels like you haven't even had a good women's fight in general in a while, much less a must watch killer.

Belal was probably the perfect fight for JDM to have right before Islam. And JDM was like Houdini with some of the ways he got back up during that fight. Escape artist. He's going to need that vs. Islam.

I heard Islam saying he would want to fight Kamaru Usman next if he wins against JDM. To me that seems like Jon Jones wanting to fight Stipe--ok, he's the heavyweight GOAT, but he was way past his prime. Same with Usman, definitely not the top dog of that division anymore.

That fight Islam lost was a quick stoppage. Got nailed with a hard punch but the ref immediately called it, even though it looked like Islam was getting back up as the ref covered him. It's gotta sting having that as your only loss, especially since Khabib's dad was against him trying to win with striking for that fight.

If Islam loses, that takes away the prestige from a potential Islam vs. Topuria match. No longer two champs with insane auras going against each other.

Feel like Islam might catch JDM with a quick submission, maybe similar to how he beat Charles. But JDM could win. Should be good.

I think a lot of people will come here after the fight and say that they can’t believe how easy that looked for Islam

Just my humble opinion though

I don’t think ufc will make Islam vs Usman if Makhachev wins. No way they will risk Ilia vs Islam which would be the biggest fight. The question is will Ilia step up to 170.

I think Ilia will step up to 170, he's said he would. I'm sure he loves the idea of being a triple champ. Maybe it's because Islam has never fought at welterweight, but it seems like Ilia wouldn't look too small against Islam at that weight. But there are a lot of welterweights where it would look like Ilia is tiny against them.

I don't think Islam goes back down to lightweight again. Unless he can't win at welterweight and wants to end his career on a win. I also think he knows the extra weight to throw around gives him an advantage vs. Ilia at welterweight.

I should mention--Islam has said that him vs. Ilia is the fight to make, the fight everybody wants to see, so it sounds like he's in for it. But that was just some article I saw the other day, Islam saying he thinks Usman would be good after JDM. It's the same thinking as Jones vs. Stipe, if I beat the welterweight GOAT, that sounds good on paper.

I actually heard some speculation that the UFC is waiting to see who wins JDM vs. Islam before they schedule Ilia next. As in, if Islam wins, maybe the next fight for both would be at the White House. But I think Ilia will definitely want to fight again before June of next year. Sounds like it will be either Gaethje or Paddy. But Arman would be the best fight for Ilia to prepare for Islam.

Actually everybody said the reason that Belal lost to JDM was because he tried to strike with him to show that he wasn't a boring fighter.

So if Islam just sticks to his bread-and-butter, maybe he'll have no problem with JDM? Grapple with and wrestle him down early when they're still dry, and JDM won't be able to slip free and escape?

Went back and watched it, wild fight. JDM has Belal on the ropes in the 5th, scored some good damage, possibly could have finished him. Cruz commentates that JDM lets Belal off the hook at the end:

Belal is a really poor man’s version of Islam. Did he even land a decent kick vs JDM? He had no top pressure or submission threat in that fight. JDM likes to scramble to get on his feet but doing so will leave his neck open for a choke.

I also got a future ticket on Valentina. I’m for sure going to hedge to get 10 cent on a dollar. JDM moved to +230. I wonder if I should grab it now or wait for +250.

Jack and Islam both like they're 200Lbs.i have no clue how Islam made 155, ever, let alone for damn near 30 fights.

Same thing with Khabib. That's why they get called weight bullies.

The weight cut sounds more grueling than the fight itself in some cases. Unhealthy at a minimum.

Surprised at how pro Islam/Russian the pre fright press conference crowd was. Thought JDM would get more cheers; I know I’m pulling for him.

Everyone has to make weight. But when Islam does it, he’s trying to gain an advantage? Pereira used to fight at MW. He’s fighting at LHW. He’s looking to fight at HW. But people never call him weight bully. If you make FW, you’re a FW. if you make WW you’re a WW.

It just shows how popular Islam look am has gotten over the years. And doesn’t hurt that nyc is pretty diverse.

islam has been around ufc for a long time and while jack is a good fighter he has zero charisma. I think islam would get more pop in pretty much any location besides australia or new zealand. also new york is full of muslims.

Damn, JDM +250 now. 100% going to hedge. The question is how much.

I’d wait till after ceremonial weigh ins. Might slide even more toward Islam when people realize jack isn’t much bigger if at all.
