Main card

Amanda Nunes vs. Irene Aldana: (W) Bantamweight Title
Charles Oliveira vs. Beneil Dariush: Lightweight
Mike Malott vs. Adam Fugitt: Welterweight
Dan Ige vs. Nate Landwehr: Featherweight
Eryk Anders vs. Marc-André Barriault: Middleweight
Prelims

Nassourdine Imavov vs. Chris Curtis: Middleweight
Jasmine Jasudavicius vs. Miranda Maverick: (W) Flyweight
Aiemann Zahabi vs. Aoriqileng: Bantamweight
Blake Bilder vs. Kyle Nelson: Featherweight
Early prelims

David Dvorák vs. Steve Erceg: Flyweight
Diana Belbita vs. Maria Oliveira: Strawweight

One of the worst ppv I can remember but still has one of the most intriguing fights. Cant wait to see how this dariush vs oliviera fight goes. Charles is one of the best to ever do it period. Dangerous everywhere but at the same time he has holes in his game that can be exploited. He gets hit and beneil has some power and wont be like some of the other guys that were scared to follow him to the ground. Im not even sure how you gameplan against charles. When i think do you try and grapple with this guy is it worth the risk when you know he is hittable and has been dropped many times. But at the same time dude has some crazy power and will likely have speed advantage and slight reach advantage. I think beneil is prob the stronger grappler and maybe the smarter fighter??? I dont know… but what a great matchup. Big fan of beneil seems like a standup guy and much like charles had to earn it. Big fan of charles but hope that its beneils time I think he showed in his fight against gamrot he has the tools to beat machachev.

Nunes and aldana. I think aldana has a better chance than the odds say but gonna be dependent on which nunes shows up. Would be cool to see 4 mexican champs though.

Only other fight that sticks out is dan ige and nate the train landwehr both guys always come to fight.

Charles and Beneil should be headlining this card in a 5 round fight.

There is absolutely no reason to have Nunes vs Tomato can #6 as the headliner.

I’d still say Makhachev beats Dariush 4/5 times. Still, Dariush should get the TS with a win but you can’t count our Dana pulling some shenanigans with Poirier/Gaethje next month.

I wouldn’t count Yair as champ. But I hope he beats Volk. Yair has some quick and devastating kicks. But no easy task to beat Volk.

I just wonder what going up then back down will do to volk. Pretty quick turnaround also. Yair is a beast. Even though i think volk probably wins I def like yair as a underdog. Dude is so explosive and violent. His last second elbow knockout of the asian guy is one of my favorite knockouts ive ever seen.

Neither fight is worth $80 though

This fight is so good. I think the long list of fights and damage catch up to Charles in this fight and his career takes its eventual downturn.

Ill pay to watch charles and beneil fight any day... many people buy shitty boxing cards just for one fight.

Not that many.. all but a few of the recent boxing PPVs have BOMBED.

I doubt 289 does 100k, maybe back when ESPN weren't greedy and offering $50 like four years ago it'd be worth it but this is not a $80 card.. I got a bar 5 minutes from my house, that'll do fine

This would be a great mid day ABC card that they do once a year.

They actually have an afternoon card later this month on ABC that's top to bottom better than 289 IMO

I feel like the ufc, for as non-PC as they can be, has to meet a quota for female main events for PPVs in a year

This is one of those times. This fight shouldn’t be a main event, not even close

Is there a separate thread for TUF?

I’ve been following Holobaugh, our local guy from Hammond. He’s been really excited about the whole premiere of this show. Hopefully that means he did well.

Watched the 1st ep. Man, Conor looks so weird. Pretty cool concept with the vets vs newcomers, but I think there’s 0 chance any of the vets make any noise in the ufc. I mean if you ain’t got it by your mid 30s then it prolly isn’t going to happen for you. Lawler, Masvidal, and maybe burns are the exception

I’m pulling Holobaugh but damn, he’s getting long in the tooth. I remember him fighting locally around here 15 years ago.

Spoilers

Saying that, the Vets are starching the new comers so far. And both vets have been lower seceded.

I feel like the womens divisions have just totally collapsed in the last year or so. 135 had been kinda dead for a few years but 115/125 were good. Now its looking bleak for those also. None of the young talent has panned out.

Conor def was on some kind of juixe but cant really blame him his leg was fricked. Im sure all the alcohol drugs and partying isnt helping either.

I havent watched but i thought i read jason knight was on the show. He was pretty decent in the ufc.

Seems that the show isnt doing as well as expected viewing wise. I dont think conor fights again and if he does it wont be against chandler. Honestly only thing that makes sense to me is the diaz trilogy.

The bully beat down guy? I didn’t see him on there. I recognized a few of the vet names, hollobough and Roosevelt for sure

Conor already missed the 1st weigh in of the show At the beginning they were interviewing Conor and he said “me and chandler have a fight-“ then it kinda cut off like that’s all he said but to me it really sounded like he was going to say a date. Could be wishful thinking but I think the date is set and Dana is waiting to release it….I hope.

Yip, they even did an interview with him and Sabin before his fight with Machida I think.
