I'd say it's more because mma is brand new. Floyd is the #1 draw in boxing by far while JJ is not the #1 in mma. Plus Floyd has been fighting professionally since JJ was in elementary school.
And regardless of what he has said in an interview, I highly doubt JJ has or would ever duck AS. He'd probably leap at that fight with the quickness. I could see Anderson ducking Jon though

If MMA wants to be taken serious as a SPORT, then the friend deal has to stop. It is beyond absurd to me to hear one of them say such a thing, even with the recognition of the emotional component of a combat sport.
Football and baseball are not comparable to combat sports because you aren't trying to "kill" your opponent. Also, they are in different weight classes. It's not just MMA, look at the Klitschko brothers in boxing.
A striker moving up a weight class to fight a great wrestler would be a terrible decision, because of the strength and weight aspect.

other sports vs mma in going against friends is not comparable. But if everyone refused to fight acquaintances that they signed autographs next to once for 15 mins like JJ and Silva then there would be about 2 fights per year in MMA. They don't want to fight because they don't want to lose, not because they are besties with someone who can't speak their language.
