Good call. I haven't thought about this.

Nick Diaz FTW

I hope he breaks GSPs arm in half. Time for someone to defeat Mr HGH

LoL....
MMA BJJ and gi BJJ are two different animals.
I think Diaz has proven he has a better all around BJJ game than Penn.

Pride fan boy? Yes
Everyone clean? No

However they weren't doing anything that fighters in the UFC weren't doing.

Based upon what exactly? Because Diaz pulled off a gogo on Gomi? Penn has won a higher percentage of his fights by submission, and they have both only tapped out two BJJ black belts in MMA matches. I'd say it's short-sighted to say that Diaz has proved that he has a better all around BJJ game over Penn.

I would say based off of what I have seen with my own two eyes that Diaz uses larger variety of submissions, has better transitions and can fight off of his back.

That would be my reasoning.

Although I do believe BJ is insanely awesome at the back mount.

So, basically your subjective opinion?

Would you have said the same thing at the end of 09? (if you watched MMA back then) I'm asking because BJ is no longer in his prime, I believe that BJ's recent losses may have skewed your view of him.

Aren't all discussions of hypothetical things subjective opinion?

Your assessment is fair, I just happen to believe at any point in BJs career that his MMA BJJ isn't as good as Diaz's.

I have watched MMA religiously since around 2001 as well as trained BJJ for two years, so I feel that my opinion is reasonable.

I just moved to Coconut Creek. Should I start training with the Blackzillians or ATT?

Since you are both black and Brazilian I think the choice is obvious.....

Diaz is the flashier of the two and fights better from guard, but as you know the top game is just as important if not more important than guard and I feel that Penns top game is vastly better than Diaz'. Would you argue against that? BJJ isn't all about subs(as I'm sure you know), a large part is positioning and control.

Position before submission. That patience is what makes a good BJJ player great.

The thing that impresses me the most about BJ is his back control. It's insane how good he is once he takes your back. Which should put into context how good Diaz's BJJ is that he was able to escape quickly.

I love this gif

Watched the Countdown last night. i love how Diaz's own trainer said Diaz not complaining would be a foreign concept to him. LOL...man that dude whines a LOT. Can't stand that tool. can he make a sentecne w/o cursing? anyway...i'm stoked. it makes for a fun fight when you hate the other guy. prediction: GSP wins by lay and pray and Diaz will whine afterwards, threaten retirement, and fail drug test.

Well Diaz didn't show up for the open workouts today...Here we go again. Here's the quote from Dana on Jim Rome

quote:

"Well, let me tell you what, if he does not show up tomorrow for the press conference, it is not going to be good. I don't know what I'll say or what I'm going to do, but I'll tell you what – it will not be good."

What a surprise. I hope they pull his arse and replace him with Hendricks. You know, the guy who actually earned a title shot in the first place.

However, he agitated St-Pierre so much that he asked to fight Diaz even after Dana White, president of the UFC, called off their first fight.
GSP is pissed. Diaz is about to get shite on. Remember when GSP came out in the red gi to some gangster arse music to poop on Matt Serra in their rematch? Yeah this will be like that.
