Guida after absorbing his early beatdown vs Sanchez, stood toe-to-toe the rest of the way, and then tonight had talented journeyman KenFlo blast him..an early omen for Diego's forthcoming bout.
Diego had never faced a champ..until tonight..looked like a crash victim exiting the octagon.
BJ Penn and Frank Mir..training hard and in elite shape..scary thought for guys in their divisions!

Gray Maynard probably would be next in line, but he and BJ are tight so I'm not sure what happens.
UFC needs to get out and sign some new LW's or BJ will get bored and unmotivated in a hurry.

I agree, and now that he has trained harder than in the past, he may wish to ponder the "what if" road in wanting some more 170 matches or catch-weight bouts?
His legacy is absolutely secured at 155 regardless if ever beaten by skill, luck, or age catching up to him in the future..all he has tortuting him now are his Delahoya-esque results in "dream matches"..
Which may lead him back to that challenge?

I thought B.J. would win, but I can't believe he fricked Diego up like that. The stratagy of going for takedowns by Diego was f'ng retarded. He isn't GSP. Wouldn't surprise me if B.J. talked Dana into another shot at GSP actually. He would have a shot if he could put on enough beef to deal with the size and strength.

No, GSP kicked his arse, & has beaten him twice now. Throw in what Matt Hughes did to him in their last fight, Benn needs to stay out of the welterweight divison.

Yea I know what you're saying brah...
Maybe Maynard I guess. I don't know. No one really. If they put Maynard in there they could build it as "Teacher vs. Student" type deal

I don't think Maynard would make it out of the first round.

Last time GSP and BJ fought, BJ couldn't even get up to 170, he fought at 167. By the time fight happened, GSP was probably 185. Too much of a muscle advantage for BJ to overcome, GSP will take fight to ground every time nad out muscle BJ. BJ could actually fight at 145.

Next fight: BJ Penn vs. Jose Aldo

BJ will probably have to go back up to 170 before he sees another challenge. GSP is a freak at 170, smaller than only Rumble at WW (including Thiago Alves). BJ handled Matt Hughes in their 2nd fight while Hughes was still elite. Problem is, how will they ever set up a BJ fight at 170 that doesn't involve GSP?
Maynard, Edgar, Aoki, etc would get put down just like everyone else BJ has fought at 155

That's not acurate. GSP is bigger than the average WW, but not huge.
Rumble, Koscheck and Alves are all bigger.

Maynard would get slaughtered by B.J. Only thing I can think is if they start making guys at 170 make the cut to 155 to fight B.J. Probably could get a few interesting fights that way.

no one on board with penn-aldo?
obviously pure speculation, but it would be interesting for sure

i'd love it but I don't think they've built up Aldo's name in the WEC enough yet. If he can get 2-3 title defenses where he's demolishing people and get his name to a Uriah Faber level they could pull it off IMO.
As for the guys at 155, theres really nothing there right now. I don't even know if any of the Dream guys could sign with the UFC right now, they probably have to fight in Strikeforce. Nobody is going to buy a PPV to see BJ be a -400 favorite over Edgar, Maynard or whoever thats in the 155 division now.
Might as well let him just fight non-title fights at a higher weight class like Anderson Silva started doing once he cleaned out 185. Penn vs Alves, Kos, Fitch, Hughes again would be a big draw, Hazelett, Swick something like that.
