after I wrote that I thought about how he doesn't really own people on the ground, he just chooses a moment and then rips your f'ing arm off.

eta: or head, as with fujita

One of the very few fights that I honestly didn't agree with the decision and most everyone else did. I still think Chuck punching him in the face while taking a leg kick is in Chuck's favor.

I would've have been on the opposite side of the fence against you then that night.

Ah yes, Brett Rogers. That's who the world's best HW should be fighting

Of course I would rather him fight Lesnar or Couture, but I am looking forward to this fight.

It could have been alot worse.

Hadn't seen this

quote:

Mir recently spoke with Xtreme Radio about the loss to Brock, his potential fight with Cheick Kongo, and how he thinks Fedor would fare against Lesnar. Though we may never see the fight take place, Mir was asked if he thought Fedor Emelianenko could beat Brock Lesnar. "In a cage no. In a boxing ring, possibly," said Mir. Mir also outlined why he doesn't think Fedor would be too successful in the UFC. "In a boxing ring, when you're taken down, you can scoot from under the ropes, you can survive. In a cage, you better be able to get back up, or you're gonna get crushed. He would get crushed against Brock.

I was thinking the same thing when we were discussing Brock vs. An Silva. It's a very valid point.

I'm really starting to think that a. silva vs fedor is the best match possible right now.

I immediately said after the Forrest Griffin fight that he would take Fedor. I was still quite pumped and carried away after just watching him skull drag Forrest though.

I want to see a round-robin with Fedor, Machida and The Spider. The winner has to face Lesnar.

Right. I was more taking another jab at his not signing with the UFC which gives us this matchup than at Strikeforce not having more options which gives us this matchup.

He has a valid point. Grappling in the cage is a lot different than in the ring. The ring gives you more outs than the cage does from as far as being able to catch a guy in a submission while the cage gives you a better chance of getting back to your feet. Also the cage helps a GnP'er a lot more because you can cram someone up against the cage and get closer to them to pound the crap out of them (Lesnar-Mir II). However I still see no definitive difference as far as striking in a cage vs a ring, as someone on here tried to argue with me one time saying the main reason that Gonzaga knocked CroCop's head off was because he was not used to the cage and then I laughed at him.

I think you could argue the space and shape differences would be pretty significant.

For a guy trying to jab, leg kick, and run away for 3-5 rounds? Yes.

Dana White says lighter weight classes coming to the UFC soon

quote:

At today's UFC 102 pre-fight press conference, White said he didn't have any immediate plans to merge Zuffa's two fight organizations together – but that doesn't mean fans shouldn't expect to see some of the WEC's biggest stars making their way into the UFC, especially with the volume of cards the UFC is planning for 2010.

"(The chances of us bringing lighter weight classes to the UFC are) very good, and probably real soon," White said. "We're doing like three fights a month next year."

This is going to burn out a lot of people. Personally, I love it though.
