Nate is a tough guy though IMO. I'll be impressed if Maia can sub him easily.

Maia's biggest problem IMO is going to be getting it to the ground. Nate is strong and a good wreslter. Maia is going to have to show another dimension in this fight standing up to stand a chance.

Wrestlers as experienced as Nate is usually have the kryptonite for the BJJ guys with nothing else in the bag. We'll see though, should be interesting it is a tough call.

Exactly. And we have never really seen Maia on his feet because he never has been there for very long in the past. He is going to have to make Nate want to take this to the ground.

Pulling guard is his best chance to get it down.

If it hits the ground, Nate will have to be like GSP was to B.J. I would keep it standing if I were Nate, unless that doesn't seem to be working.

How shitty would the ppv buys be if this card was one week later?

Randy Couture vs. Antonio Nogueira

Main Card:

Keith Jardine vs. Thiago Silva
Chris Leben vs. Jake Rosholt
Nate Marquardt vs. Demian Maia
Brandon Vera vs. Krzysztof Soszynski

Undercard:
Ed Herman vs. Aaron Simpson
Gabriel Gonzaga vs. Chris Tuchscherer
Justin McCully vs. Mike Russow
Tim Hague vs. Todd Duffee
Nick Catone vs. Mark Munoz

I can see the Marquardt/Maia fight going either way, but since I had to pick one. I say Maia eventually catches him.

I definitely wouldn't bet that one.

The Jardine fight seems like a no brainer to me if you are going to bet. I would give Silva 60% odds in that one and he is the dog.

I don't know. While I hate Jardine he does present problems to almost everyone he fights. Jardine has beaten some top guys and taken some into some tough fights and close decisions. Thiago on the other hand has yet to really beat a tough opponent. His best victory to date is over James Irwin.

I just like him because he is a dog in this. I see a Houston Alexander vs Jardine type fight here. lol. The lock of the night in my mind is Randy. I just don't see how he is going to lose.

Oh he is a good value bet, don't get me wrong. I just think that fight is more of a coin flip.

+1

It would take a very uncharacteristic major lapse in judgement for Randy to lose this one. My previously posted fight prediction that I am sticking with:

quote:

Randy clinches and dirty boxes his way to a decision. Nog needs to get this one to the ground and I don't think he will be able to do that. This one could be a snoozer.

I'm picking Randy but I wouldn't go that far.

I agree, you can't count out Randy or Big Nog ever. They are two of the smartest fighters ever.

I wish this fight happend three years ago.
