I think the strikeforce with Fedor on CBS scares him.

UFC 100 was RIDICULOUS, and they follow up that card with BJ Penn vs. Kenny Florian and Forrest Griffin vs. An Silva. Dude that is just sick.

In no way does the word scare even enter their mind. They have the UFC's attention and THAT'S IT.

So let's say Silva dominates Griffin. Does Silva start looking at more LHW matches and maybe make a run at that division? It seems to me he's done just about everything to be done for the time being in the MW division.

It was, but as a MMA fan, I was surprised and a bit disappointed it wasn't their biggest show. If they are smart (and they are) they are worried. They need Fedor to lose quickly, or they're not going to be the only big game in town anymore.

We've heard that before.

OMG, Pride is putting on shows in America. They are going to take over.

OMG, Elite XC is on network tv. They are going to take over.

OMG, look at the card Affliction is putting together. They are going to take over.

Why not? Maybe on last fight at MW to mop up Maia, then take a shot at Machida.

That's where the interesting match ups are right now for him, other than Vitor.

They bought pride and merged...(er killed it)

They put all their eggs in Kimbo, and all the kings horses and all the kings men.....

They completely focused on getting the best heavyweights and over paying them... and they got them, just started too big too soon.

Strikeforce has been a great run company so far with a natural growth. Now they have big time tv deals. If they can merge or co promote with Dream and other shows, they've got a real chance to be a major player. If they can establish a fan base on CBS and can pay fighters more than the UFC they'll win.

Of course Fedor could lose his next fight on a card where they show 3 fights in 2 hours and it's all over. But the chance for success seems much higher than anyone other than Pride... (who the UFC bought to stop the competition)

Has anybody read if he is going to fight at MW in the UFC? Isn't he fighting Franklin at LHW?

They were able to buy Pride, because Pride was dying on the vine. The move to America was a last ditch attempt to survive and it flopped.

I'm not saying Strikeforce will go down, but we have heard many times about a new major competitor rising to take on the UFC. Everytime for whatever reason it has failed.

I don't think they have said, but he was fighting in Affliction at 185 and the 185 division in the UFC needs talent much more than 205.

Yeah, but thats probably more because they want to keep Franklin out of MW as long as Anderson Silva is around.

Agreed. That's why I was hoping they would get him in fighting at MW to add a spark to that division.

I agree that Frankling needs to avoid the MW division like the clap. They could have found a fight for Belfort at MW though (or at least I was thinking they could). A rematch with Hendo. Marquardt perhaps. Hell even Maia.

ETM, I read that Vitor and Franklin agreed to meet at catchweight. 195 lbs

I'm blown away by this. This will be bare minimum 5 years before Strikeforce is even in that realm of possibility to match UFC's salaries. And that's saying if the UFC has zero growth in the next 5 years.

You are about to witness fighters getting paid a lot more money by the UFC.

I hate catch weights unless they are necessary. Both fighters have fought at and can make 185 and 205. Pick one.
