Beat the team that beat both teams in the National Championship and went undefeated

Their offense gave them a real shot. Had a real quarterback

Them not at least being in the top 10 is laughable.

They were easily a top 7 team IMO. This year proved we need an 8 team playoff

They wouldn't have been selected for that either.

We would have to make some rule that an undefeated non P5 team gets an auto slot. Maybe add a few more measures like SOS minimums or something.

It's unreal how bad the helmet sticker determines if you get a shot or not.

Any system that doesn't reward conference championships and undefeated seasons in broken.

8 team playoffs. 5 P5 conference champions,3 at large with a stipulation than any non P5 team ranked in the top 15 gets an auto bid.

Problem with making an auto bid for the best of non-big 5 schools (you cannot stipulate if they're undefeated -- comon...), you're going to have some years like this, and some years, the best team will have 2-3 losses and be complete shite and the number 1 seed cake walks through their first game while the others play real competition.

Oh no! The #1 seed getting a reward for being #1?

Alabama would hate to face Utah again

Since it's arbitrary and the whole reason we created a national championship and now playoff, yes.

This isn't the NFL. Parity and competition is not the same everywhere in the country.

Utah is in the Pac-12, junky. But since you bring up Utah, how close have they been to an undefeated (or even one loss) season since they joined the Pac-12? Yeah, because that's what happens when these teams have to play legitimate schedules.

Very true, which is why Alabama didn't deserve to be in the playoffs this year.

No way to say that Alabama would have beaten Wisconscin, OSU or UCF is they would have been given a shot.

With the number of teams and lack of head-to-head games to compare teams with you have to give a reward for winning a conference title.

By allowing a team that couldn't win their division to make the playoffs over teams that won their conference you are potentially leaving out the real best team in the nation because they didn't impress some committee.

It's a horrible way to crown a "champion".

So, Alabama and Georgia both finished the regular season 11-1 and both lost road games to Auburn. Georgia, because it plays in a weaker division, got the opportunity for a rematch and thus a conference title. Alabama, because it plays in a tougher division, doesn't. So because Georgia plays in a weaker division, they should be given the benefit of the doubt? They did nothing more than Alabama to get into their conference title game.

They played only one P5 game, and it was against a mediocre Maryland... sorry but no.

Emphasizing conference championships is so short-sighted. Why is it so difficult to just take a team's entire resume and judge it without trying to give arbitrary emphasis to certain things?

By leaving a team out just because they didn't win their conference you are potentially leaving out the real best team in the nation because they lost a tiebreaker.

Nah. They beat an overachieving Auburn team. That's all.

The conferences are by and large regional. The conference champion therefore should represent the best team in that region.

If you don't win your conference you haven't earned a spot in the four team playoff.\

Wisonsin basically got screwed because they played in a conference title game.

UCF got screwed by not being in a bigger conference.

Wisconsin struggled to defeat Miami a couple of nights ago and the team that assblasted Miami in the ACC Conference Championship got completely skull fricked by a team your saying shouldn't have been in the playoff.

Wisconsin had no business being in this thing. The only team, who now, looks like they shouldn't have been in, is Clemson. Losing to Syracuse is inexcusable, especially when your QB, who sucks arse, didn't even play.
