Today is the day that every high school in Texas must turn in their enrollment number. Classification cutoffs are typically announced in late November, and two year districts in February.

As schools turn in numbers, you can find them here:
TexasFootball

Classifications cutoffs for the last realignment can be found here:
2020-21 Cutoffs

Lots of people moving to Texas the last couple of years, and it’s expected that somewhere around 70-80 schools will report numbers of 3000+.

Also, the number of new schools grows by about a dozen a year in Texas.

For those familiar with DFW football, Argyle turned in a number that will most likely move them from 4A to 5A.

Except for the "three rules" of redistricting:

6A cutoff: Highland Park +2

5A Division II cutoff: Aledo +2

4A Division I cutoff: Argyle +2

Plus there is also talk of a proposed Class 7A which would house the Allen-sized schools.

Couldn’t they just make Allen field an A-M team and an N-Z team???

Good news for a few teams. I know this, I'm sick of Gilmer being in the same 4A Division as Carthage and Argyle over the past few years. Has cost us 2 state titles.

7A won’t happen this go around, but is almost a certainty for the next realignment in 2024.

Seems like these schools have avoiding major shifts for a while

Argyle clocks in at 1342. More than Longview Pine Tree, Wichita Falls, Jacksonville and others i noticed who are 5A. Looks like they're moving on up. Not going to miss them lol

I really want to see Aledo make a move. If anything, just to see them entertain better competition

As an alumnus of a 4A school, I approve of Argyle getting bumped

Crazy growth North of Houston...

Cleveland (about 1900 2 years ago) turned in almost 2900.

Caney Creek 2300+
Waller 2400+

Those 3 moving up to 6A

12-6A
Bryan 2400+
All 5 Killeen schools less than 2200 except Harker Heights.
Belton moving down, Temple on borderline.... where will Copperas Cove, Harker Heights, Temple, and Bryan go?

Princeton 1882

This amazes me. This place was a literal blip between Mckinney and Greenville 20 years ago. Like, 3000 population at best. Now it's at least 17K.

Two years ago…

Plano 4999
Plano East 5445
Plano West 5579
Allen 6959

Four biggest in the state.

Of note, none of the Plano schools will make the playoffs this season.

For me, the prime example is Frisco. They had 1 HS for almost a hundred years, and since 2000 they’ve added what, 9-10 more?

Harker Heights may move down. Wouldn’t be too crazy if the cutoff was 2290 with the amount of schools moving up. They are at 2285.

I wouldn't be surprised if they do.... what does that do to us (Bryan), Temple, Copperas Cove, and Waco Midway (& maybe Harker Heights)?

The thoughts of sending us to Conroe / Willis may be done with Caney Creek, Waller, and Cleveland moving up. Haven't seen numbers for the Tomball and Magnolia schools, plus Katy Paetow and Jordan.

Looks to be a pretty crazy alignment... at least the the 2 Ysleta ISD schools who would be 5A D2 are opting up, or they could have been going to Amarillo or Lubbock....
