I saw the Yankees almost traded Mariano Rivera to the Mariners in 96'. What other big trades fell through over the years in sports?

That would've changed so many people's opinion of him, if he broke Aaron's record as a Brave with Aaron there at the Ted to support him

Scottie Pippen to the Celtics for the 3rd and 6th picks in the Tim Duncan draft. The picks ended up being Chauncey Billups and Ron Mercer although the Bulls probably wouldn't have picked the same players.

It almost happened right before the draft. Pitino was banking on getting the first or second pick. Back then, everyone knew Duncan was a superstar, but van Horn was almost as highly regarded.

And the Bulls were unhappy with Pippen's salary demands.

CP3 to LA, paired with the GOAt, would've been the best backcourt in NBA history

Ted Williams for Joe DiMaggio straight up.

Could have been good for both teams.

Would have been amazing for the Pistons.

Kobe
Rasheed
Ben wallace

Joe Dumars has taken a lot of criticism the last few years (Darko pick, Ben Gordon, Charlie V., etc). He's been somewhat hamstrung by the recent ownership change. If this move would have gone down...his recent legacy would have been much different.

Not the biggest but the Lions almost got Ronnie Brown from the Eagles for RB Jerome Harrison. It turned out Harrison had a tumor that was discovered during the physical.

ETA: oops, actually a voided trade
