Anybody that is a HUGE fan of a sports program that has a great tradition (NY Yankees, Dallas Cowboys, UNC basketball, etc) is a front-runner bandwagon fan... unless they have some sort of connection to that team (you grew up there, you went to school there, your parents were big fans of that team... something).

If somebody is a front-runner bandwagon fan, and he knows that and is cool with that, then he's not a douchebag.

The douchebags are the front-runner bandwagon fans that completely deny the reality that they are front-runner bandwagon fans.

This whole thing would bother me more if 90% of people in this thread weren't bandwagon LSU basketball fans.

The fact that this thread is 9 pages projects douchebaggery.

This thread shouldn't bother you at all. UNC has a great basketball team and a great basketball tradition, so you jumped on their bandwagon and became a huge fan. So what? That makes you happy. We all have the right to be happy--it's a free country. Yeah, of course people are going to call you a bandwagon fan. So what?

And yeah, LSU fans that only follow college basketball when LSU is doing well, and Saints fans that only follow the NFL when the Saints are doing well, etc... yeah, those people are bandwagons fans in a certain sense as well. But they aren't near as big of a bandwagon fan as an LSU fan that becomes a huge fan of UNC basketball just because LSU isn't that great... or a Saints fan that becomes a huge fan of the Cowboys just because the Saints aren't that great.

The first step is admitting you have an issue.

I've had season tickets my whole life to LSU football games bc my dad went there and I follow the team religiously, but my favorite college basketball team is Wake Forest basketball because I attend Wake Forest. I still watch the LSU basketball games that I can and go to all the Wake home games for football but I'm just not as a big of fan in those two sports. What's the ruling? OK....not OK

I personally think that anyone who is a fan of any team when they have no real affiliation with said team is an a-hole. A prime example is the legions of Lakers fans out there who have never been to LA and don't even know the roster.

Yes.

Root for one team.

I suppose it's okay to have a half-arse loyalty for you grad school team or your hometown team...whatever. But under NO circumstances should you ever advocate that you like team teams.

It makes no sense.

The people who "have two teams" are the same people who cannot accept that one of "their teams" may not cut it.

Maybe some people grew up watching UNC play and they filled a void that the LSU basketball team couldn't.

I stuck with LSU. I liked watching UNLV play when I was a KID, but you won't catch the ADULT me rooting for anyone but my school.

Yes, it was tough rooting for LSU from '94-'99 but what a treat '00 was. It paid off all those years of watching Gene Nabors and Landers Nolley.

FWIW, you say that now, but I guarantee you wouldn't do that if that actually happened.

Anyway, I'm probably not going to go to OSU, and there's NO WAY you can say that I'm a douche for cheering for both the Bucks and whatever school I go to.
