Forget the marlins... Miami made a mistake by not building a football stadium downtown.. now we got to drive to the shite stadium of sun life for hurricane and dolphin games

The pitching staff has youth in it with Hughes stepping up after a rough first month, Phelps pitched well in spot duty, CC is still an ace, Nova is an innings eater #4 pitcher, Pineda will be ready by mid season if Andy/Kuroda return Yankees have a strong staff.
The line up will be iffy with Swisher gone but Gardner will be back to provide speed at the top. If Jeter can bounce bal the line up will be fine during regular season. Playoffs and facing a staff like Detroits will hurt.
The Jays haven't done enough to close the gap. Getting Bautista back and adding Reyes/Buck helps the offense and as I said earlier Mark isn't anything special and not a difference maker. Key is going to be Johnson and if he can pitch well against AL line ups all year. They closed the gap but they still have a long way to go. Only 2 pitchers finished in top 36 in ERA last year (26/36) while Yankees had 4.

I remember growing up in the mid 90s in S. Florida and remember that 97 team really well. Such a shame they can't sustain anything long-term (and it's happened now several times in their history)

Marlins getting a haul of prospects
Posted on 11/13/12 at 6:09 pm to bddwolfpack
Prospects they hope can into players just as good or better than what they gave up. Maybe 1 or 2 turns into a legit player usually in these types of deals. Think what What Texas got for Tex is more an anomaly.

Got a full recap of who is going to which team?
ESPN just says "prospects"

The Toronto Blue Jays may have gotten the pitching help they've been looking for.
According to reports, the Jays have acquired starting pitchers Mark Buehrle and Josh Johnson, as well as shortstop Jose Reyes and catcher John Buck, from the Miami Marlins.
In exchange, the Marlins receive pitcher Henderson Alvarez and shortstops Yunel Escobar and Adeiny Hechavarria.

Boston looks weak right now and Yanks maybe primed for a letdown this year...

How can you diss Buehrle and praise Ivan Nova?
If healthy the Jays have a better rotation and lineup than NYY now, IMO.

i am hearing five players to the Jays though...

Posted on 11/13/12 at 6:24 pm to OBUDan
I would have made two separate deals. Johnson and parts to the Rangers(Rangers have tried to get Johnson in the past) and Reyes inc. to the Jays. Would have netted more top end talent in return.
