they gotta wait til august 2nd to do it though (josh jackson).

I mean realistically, would the Cavs make it a 3-team trade and send off Jackson+Pick for another quality vet

If I was the Cavs I would take that trade. Then I would trade Kevin Love. Lebron has to know he wasn't consistent enough to beat the Warriors anyways. On top of that they are probably losing Lebron so they can sell Love before they are considered truly desperate.

I'm probably in the minority but the Cavs should keep Jackson and the pick imo.

I don't see any possible trade centered around Irving that also brings them that much closer to the Warriors. Cleveland would still probably make the Finals with this trade and they would have a something to build with in case Lebron leaves.

Yes. I think Jackson can be an impact defender off the bench right away. And if Lebron were to commit to them next summer before the draft you can deal what should be a high pick for something very useful. And you keep it if he's leaving

I don't know why Phoenix would do that though

I'm with you on this. Sets them up for the future regardless while keeping them as the best in the East this season. Keeping the pick could also be enticing for LeBron to stay if they gel well this season too. Jackon + pick is likely better than whatever they'd get in return. Maybe consider testing the market for Love at that point and see if you could maybe get something worth it.

I just don't know what you're going to get with Jackson/Love/really good pick that's available this summer that puts you level with GS.

People need to stop thinking this way. The Warriors are unfairly stacked. At this point you are not going to match them when guys like Iggy and Durant are purposely taking way less money with Green and Thompson still on cheap contracts also.

Which is why building for 3-4 years from now may be the way to go, which means keeping Jackson and that pick if that deal happened. It also protects them if Lebron leaves this summer. Even if Lebron were to stay, he's still going to be legit at 35-36

Chasing shortsighted deals that marginally improve your chance at winning a title next year is dumb IMO

At this point, I don't think that should be the goal. With these changes you're looking at a very good defensive team that could at least slow down the Warriors more than the past year's Cavs while maintaining solid offensive production. To me that is more what they needed bc no one is gonna outshoot GSW in a series. The main takeaway is they'd lose Kyrie but still be ahead of Boston imo.

According to @WindhorstESPN, the Suns would consider trading Eric Bledsoe, Josh Jackson, and a Pick for Kyrie Irving.
Phoenix.

Irving's value is certainly higher but I think for what CLE needs, they're better with Bledsoe at the point than Kyrie, with nothing else added, much less Jackson.

I wonder what dangling Love+Jackson could get CLE in return.

You never know what will happen during a season.

Look at what happened to San Antonio in the playoffs this year. Parker blows out his quad, Kawhi sprains his ankle, Aldridge forgot how to play basketball, etc.

If Curry or Durant miss even just a few games in the playoffs, that can completely change a series.

You never know what can happen and what opportunities can open up and the defeatist attitude by people wanting to just give up for the next 4 years is a terrible approach in my opinion.

I mean to be fair, san antonio looked like a team who was deep enough and talented enough that on all cylinders could match up with GS.

If the trade is truly available, Cleveland realistically goes from Kyrie->Bledsoe which is not some substantial drop off.

Josh Jackson I GUARANTEE is better than Richard Jefferson. Derrick Rose healthy is better than the ghost of Deron Williams.

How much closer do they get, I honestly do not know, but what I know is the offense they tried to do in the Finals will not work and Irving being a constant issue defensively isn't going to make life easier. Bledsoe isn't some lockdown defender, but he's better than Irving. He isn't the same scorer, but I think Bledsoe can run an actual team-oriented offense if he is paired with Love and LeBron sits.

As I mentioned, I think there's a logical argument to make that CLE doesn't drop off at all.

Kyrie does only 1 thing well, score. And yea, he does that really well. But if you swap him with Bledsoe, CLE is still going to be a top 5 offense IMO.

With what Bledsoe adds just on the defensive end should provide a pretty large difference from Kyrie.
