I find it interesting that POTUS has a handful of domestic & international issues he could be paying attention to. But isntead he decides to go down to AL for a pep rally and call out NFL players.

It's laughable no one wants to confront one of the leaders of this movement for blatantly lying about the LVPD incident. POS Michael Bennett lies his was off then the media acts like it never happened.

He's not wrong, but the entire situation is massively divisive. The funniest part is the fans have the most power in this situation. If all the people who complained about it actually bothered to turn off their TV sets and do something else for a couple of weeks, the kneeling would instantly be addressed. The problem is, like everything else, only lip service is given.
To me it speaks to a larger problem at hand, screaming for change while not putting yourself out there. I constantly read all of these frankly idiotic statements on TD, FB, Twitter, and other social media sites about how shitty everything is. None of those people are doing anything to better themselves, their community, or their kids. Fun fact, throwing up a "love" filter on FB or Snapchat DOES NOTHING. Running to TD to bitch about "unpatriotic athletes needing to shut up" DOES NOTHING. Fans were vocal about commercials, actually changed the channel because of it, and look what happened THEY MADE POSITIVE CHANGES.
Until the people in this country learn they collectively have more power than any politician, company, or special interest group, the system will remain broken.

Yep.
I don't condone the kneeling, but the last thing I wanted was the President to chime in and take it to an entirely different level. Even discussing it gives credence to the protest. It's such a dumb move if you're actually trying to make it go away.

I find it interesting you think he can only focus on one thing at a time.
Will the 4 idiots downvoting tell me where I'm wrong, or is it just a "he didn't bash Trump... downvote" situation?

Every single politician does this, it's called pandering. I guess he should have invited Trump and Goodell over to have a beer.

Are you pleased he addressed it? Did you think it was worth addressing?

I honestly couldn't care less. If he wants to comment on people doing things he thinks are dumb, cool. I'm not going to pretend that he's not still running the country just because he chose to comment on it though.
ETA: And I'd say that regardless of the letter next to his name.

Because I would say the leader of the free world trying to involve himself in private business is a pretty big deal, no?
I completely agree with you on this front. That being said, 99% of people are going to be hypocritical on this because the government is dick deep into pretty much every business out there thanks to the commerce clause, special interest groups, and other ways.

Fair enough. I just believe it validates the protest to some extent. We're definitely no closer to a resolution than we were before his comments.

It seems like all players and coaches who have made comments about this have said the same thing. I wonder if they were ordered to stand against Trump.

Did you expect this? These guys kneeling have no idea what their endgame is, so why would his comments be expected to "get us closer to a resolution?"

I realize that non-name state politicans will mouth off on twitter or facebook. But it's vastly different when the acting POTUS needs to rally his base and take aim at a league that has nothing to do with him.

No, but we aren't talking about Obamacare and how they can't put forth anything to repeal it. Which, I think, is what he wanted.

I think it would go away if it was ignored. Now it's turned into a way to rebuke the president too.

We tried that with Kaep. Media didn't let it be ignored.

Cool.

Trumps comments created what happened yesterday. He pretty much challenged the players to kneel. This is now just a pssing match between Trump and the players.

You didn't build this!
If I had a son...
And various other comments about gun manufacturers, big business, and other junk. You're out of your mind if you think sitting presidents don't bring up divisive issues in front of their fanbases with stuff that has nothing to do with them.

Trump has a huge week coming up with some controversial bills on dock. He knocked over a bees nest that was already mostly dormant in order to redirect and distract
