Are people really too dumb to realize that scores relative to par will be lower on a par 72 vs the par 70 that the US Open usually sets up?

At a Par 71, the lead would still be -9. That's too low. It would -6 at a Par 70. Still too low.

The lead was -7 last year at friggin Oakmont.
Which is a par 71 that the USGA stamps 70 on for tradition and looks so it was basically 11 under for you par police
