Weird. Knecht probably magically becomes Larry Bird now

Talk about awkward. Still remember how messy things got when the CP3 trade fell apart

What in the world? I’m guessing Williams failed his physical and LA wisely backed out. The timing sucks tho because this team is about to roll with Jaxson Hayes as it’s primary big lmao

So Williams didn’t pass a physical? This is wild. Still have Jax Hayes at the 5 but nothing else of significance behind him

Sincce its past deadline, can they say "okay we'll still do the trade, but we're not giving you unprotected firsts. deal?"

No

Because it's after the deadline, you can either keep the deal as is or you can back out

But you can't renegotiate/amend it like you could if this happened before the deadline

At least that's my understanding

There will be some solid big guys on the buyout market that will want to play with the Lakers, especially now. Not ideal but that role isn’t hard to find. Might end up being a blessing in disguise

Always wonder how frick ups of this magnitude happen

Either the Lakers were just rushing to get a trade done and didn't do their due diligence or the Hornets actively misled

Either way what an embarrassment

He’s always been an injury prone

It’s not like he’s a fully realized version of a rim running 5 either. I understand the attraction but it was a high price to pay for a theoretical player that had been hurt a lot. LA will have zero problem finding a player that can fill that role long term

I agree

Was more just commenting on how bad of a look it is for both the Hornets and Lakers that this happened

Sounds like Charlotte was trying to pull a fast one considering they came to Pelinka offering Williams, not the other way around.

Hornets subreddit saying that Williams has had a ton of issues with one of his feet on top of his back issues. Whatever it is, it must’ve been really alarming if Pelinka would rather blow up this deal and hope to find someone usable in the buyout market imo

you can see williams has slow feet in that clip vs AD
Makes sense if he has a bad foot
