After 12 games USC was ranked 4 Ohio St 5 since USC lost week 12 by 22 at home. If USC did not have to play that extra game it stands to reason they would have gone. If you think Ohio St was better before it makes no sense to say USC is better by winning an extra game. This is why I’ve always preferred most deserving vs “best” and why I’ve always hated CCG and have thought since 2001 that teams that did not win their conference should be excluded from the BCS and 4 team playoff
