Cano.
Wish this team could have Ham/Cano/Granderson for a year. Especially with A-Rod being out for awhile. But it's not going to happen.
One of the worst offseasons I've seen out of this team so far. I know they want to cut the payroll, but holy shite.

I just feel that if you do well on the player development side and you have a good farm system, you don't need a $220 million payroll. You can field every bit as good a team with young talent."
I'll never believe anything this front office says about their farm system. They talk their guys up far too much for what they produce.

I like the coordinator that they got from Oakland. Gil Patterson. Hopefully he makes a difference.
I'd take young talent any day over high dollar free agents. But we just haven't had it.

Going into last year Yankees had a farm system that ranked top 5 I believe. Then injuries and a lot of ineffectiveness hurt it as the players didn't develop as they thought. They might not have much elite talent in the minors but they cold have those pieces to fill the voids left by Swisher, Martin, and a older ARod. Just may be a bunch of players who we've never heard of....
This years FA class was relatively weak when it came to the Yankees needs anyway so i am glad they just didnt throw money at people just to say they acquired someone.

2014 Doesn't look promising....
I know some of these have been re-signed and what not but still...

2015 Class should be legit

“I don’t think he’ll be with the Yankees beyond next season,” one of the sources told the Daily News. “He’s not giving them a hometown discount, and they seem to be more interested in keeping their payroll down than winning.”
Cano is represented by Scott Boras, so anybody who is surprised by this report just isn’t paying attention. This may be Cano’s only chance at free agency, so why would he be expected to take a hometown discount, anyway? What is interesting is that one source suggested that Cano will likely be aiming for a contract similar to Alex Rodriguez‘s 10-year deal with the Yankees. And we all know how well that has worked out so far. The speculation is that the experience with A-Rod could potentially scare the Yankees away, but the truth of the matter is that a 31-year-old second baseman asking for 10 years should give most teams pause.
