He’s the best ever at outsmarting his opponent and getting them to foul him.. The best athletes in the world know what he’s gonna do and they can’t help themselves. Can’t stop themselves from fouling him. Holiday knows he has to keep his hands up. He didn’t keep his focus and dropped his hands and James made him pay.

and you Pels tards act like you would be a 70 win team if the refs weren’t out to get you. literally every loss people are blaming the refs. Man up. Have some self respect. It’s not always somebody else’s fault.

Weak over exaggeration. No one believes that.

As much as you stalk Pels talk you know that's not true either.

Boom is Pelsessed. It’s ok, you can jump off the pussy bandwagon and join Flap City. No need to repress your true feelings anymore son

At least coach Alvin gave credit where it was due. James is clear MVP. That is a great great team. Some of you guys here legitimately think that you are in the level of Houston if not for officiating. the league made a rule last year to protect defenders from themselves because they couldn’t guard harden and people think he is getting special treatment. It’s the exact opposite. The league made a rule to help defenders guard him. One of the greatest offensive players the league has ever seen. And I have a feeling he hasn’t reached his peak yet.

Literally no one has said this. When you gotta make stuff up to support your argument you know you lost. Sad.

Hey we have the requisite respect for our opponent and the league and realize that golden state is the favourite. If other fan bases here knew their spot in the pecking order and respected it you wouldn’t even have Pels and rockets fans in the same thread

Not a good look for you PTM to compare the NBAs premier bigs who will get fouled rebounding and off ball, which obviously doesn’t translate to free throws.
Demarcus Cousins and Anthony Davis shoot the 3rd and 4th most free throws in the league. So you're full of shite there too.

They are 1 and 2 in drawing fouls and 3 and 4 in free throws.

They get calls.

Y'all just like to bitch and make excuses.

look Boogie and AD play down low where there is more holding, more contact, more elbows, etc. Harden plays on the perimeter away from the trees, typically one-on-one with a defender. so it can be easily concluded that AD and Cousins should get fouled much more than Harden simply because there are more bodies around.

AD and Boogie don't flail, bait, flop, and act for fouls the way Harden does (at the very least they do MUCH less). some call the acting "bullshite" others call it "using the rules to your advantage." I'm a purest so I don't like the Harden/Manu acting crap because that's not real basketball to me. That's trying to play the refs, not playing the game

Also Harden is a primary ball handler while AD and Boogie are not. AD and Boogie typically play away from the ball, so the refs attention is drawn away from them. whereas Harden has the refs eyes on him a lot because he's a ball-hander.

this is just the way the NBA is. I don't like it at all but it's all within the rules. it makes sense for AD to get fouled a lot but I understand why he doesn't. it makes sense for Harden to get fouled less, but that's not the case, I understand why he does, but its frustrating because again I dont see that as "pure basketball."

First off, this isn't about Harden. This is about Pelicans fans complaining that they don't get calls. That is just not true.

As for Harden, he is constantly beating his man off the dribble and taking the ball to the hole. Those are the plays that result in foul calls more than any other. So yes, it does make sense that Harden gets fouled a lot.

And AD does get fouled more than Harden. Look at the OP.

A big man drawing more fouls is what you would expect, the obvious exception being the player who is the best ever at drawing fouls. It’s hard for some to appreciate that skill bc the athleticism doesn’t jump off the screen at you but the body control / braking system is unlike any the league has seen.

I never said Harden doesn't get fouled a lot. He does. He makes great moves to get guys out of position and draw a foul. The problem here is separating his good basketball moves that draw fouls from his non-basketball, ref-baiting moves he makes to get fouls. Most can appreciate his ability to draw "basketball fouls" but those non-basketball moves that get a foul cheapen the game.

of course thats an overreaction. AD does get a lot of calls, but you have to admit that if you watch a Pelicans game, he should go to the line even more often. but again I'm not making a case for that because understand why he doesn't. 1) refs call the game differently for a big man and 2) their eyes are often drawn away from them

So its fair to say, the guy who shoots the 4th most free throws only shot 4 free throws last night there's a discrepancy. Or the fact in the last 9 games (technically 8 for him) he's reached his season average in FTA ONCE in that span. Not once exceeding it.

or the fact that the team that now averages 21.4 FTA per game (down from the 22+ 10 games ago) has only shot 14.4 in the last 9 games and only hit their season average ONCE in the last 9 games, its fair to say there's a discrepancy. And its not even about shot selection while in this span they have been AMAZING at getting points in the paint. Hell, they abused Utah down low and took it to gobert repeatedly and still didn't get a foul call when guys were pushing Holiday and AD around in the paint.

Ignoring the harden discussion, there's no reason that a player who attacks the rim and takes more than 50% of his shots within 10ft of the basket takes the same amount of free throws as a jump shooter who takes 70% of his shots from 10ft and beyond. Its not a houston-NOLA bitch fest, its a league issue.
