mini boom

Well that article stats that he is set to pass that mark in earnings in 2010. It only counts earnings - it does not factor in expenses, taxes and other deductions. I would say that if Tiger has "earned" a billion in his career - he is probably worth about 300 or 350 million.

no boom needed

I would argue that if he has earned a billion minus expenses PLUS investments then he's closer than we would think.

My real point was that he told this chick that he wasn't financially stable enough to give up some of his endorsement deals etc....while complaining to her that his life is tough

This is such a big deal because everyone thought of Tiger as an honest, caring, loving person who could do no wrong. The fact that he (allegedly) had affairs with multiple women while his wife was practically giving birth is going to ruin how he is portrayed in peoples eyes for a long time.

We know WHY it is a "big deal" in the eyes of the media and public. But what I am trying to figure out is why should I give a frick? Who cares? Leave the man alone.

Basically, in a very nice way, he should just tell us that it's none of our business.

it's really not, but since he's a public figure, we hear about it.

you don't have to. Some do, some don't. People care because while you may not do it, some people buy/support everything that TW endorses. And those people, while misguided in the first place, feel betrayed by the guy.

Just because your not one of those people doesn't make the people who are letdown wrong ya know.

I don't really care either but I always have said the guy was a fraud (post from months/years ago). Great golfer, not so great guy

I hear you. I just hate it when people throw around numbers. I am sure that Tiger has paid about 40 percent of all earnings in taxes (although he does live in FLA - So that 40 percent may be a little high). He also probably spends a couple of million a year on travel and then I am sure he spends a least a million a year on salaries. Even with smart investements (I am sure he lost a few bucks the last two years) he would be no where near a billion in net worth.

I have heard that he is as tight as a nun in church so who really knows.

So when you hear "Tiger Woods," you won't think of him differently?

not one bit. I'll look at him like I've always looked at him...the greatest golfer in the world.

Tiger is not a god...he is a human being who made a mistake. Whether you think he is truly sorry for what he did or not, it doesn't matter.

Another question: Do you think this will affect Tiger's golf game?

It's got to be a huge distraction for him...but we'll see how he bounces back.

Don't really think so, not unless his career went into the tank because of it

People largely overlooked the Kobe rape case when he won it all. Petite and A-Rod went from being in the news for steroids to being world champs

Success largely trumps a scandal

I think people outside of Denver were on Kobe's side once that girl dropped the case because everyone knew she was in it for money.
Plus that was likely a one time thing, not a 3 year relationship.

Pettitte took full responsibility and answered questions. Tiger has not done that. A-ROD is still considered a fraud in people outside of NY's eyes.

Jordan did the same thing. Nobody cares, he can sell shite to a plumber.

Magic Johnson got HIV doing the same thing, nobody cares. He's hocking something new in a commercial every other week.

Kinda disagree. I think he probably tried to back door her when she only gave consent for the front door. One time thing sure but rape... proving it when you gave consent to do something and have credibility problems is something else tho

I hate the Yankees and consider A-Rod a jackass. Doesn't change the fact I think he's a great player... or that he finally produced as part of a championship team
