you idiots never stop
regardless of majors,Tiger has already proven himself to be the GOAT
only because he raised the bar of what the best golfer in the world could do is he held to such an absurd standard

You don't think jack raised the bar?

Nobody has ever dominated golf the way Tiger did in his prime
I really don't understand all the hate Tiger gets,or the people who legitimately believe that the golfers on tour today wouldn't destroy Nicklaus' contemporaries

Didn't one of Nicklaus' contemporaries destroy a bunch of current players a few years ago at the British Open? I would say 5 on 5 would be a good match.

I'll absolutely concede Watson,Palmer,Player,Miller were all time greats
My point is more about the depth of fields today, back then only a handful of guys had a legit shot to win
Today there's probably 30 golfers that nobody would be surprised to see win on any given week
People who hate Tiger would say he isn't the GOAT even if he gets to 20 majors

I agree on depth of field. However, I am not sure that really factors into GOAT passed the top 10 or so players. I will concede that Tiger has done more for the progression of the game and the Tour.

No, not greatest of all time. One of the greatest of all time, but not greatest. He has 5 years to prove he's greatest of all time. Let see what happens, and if he ties or breaks Jacks majors wins, I'll give it to him.
And yes he dominated, no doubt. Jack did too sometimes.

I think the whole reason that there's even an argument is because Tiger himself views majors as the only metric to measure greatness
I disagree with that completely
How many non majors has Tiger won that had fields just as deep and strong as a major?

Really? U don't think Gary player Arnold Palmer and those guys wouldn't do the same they did when they did.

U go from raising the bar to dominating. He dominated a weaker top 20 than jack. Congrats.

Why is majors the only barometer for so many?

Emmitt Smith is the all-time leading rusher, but no one would ever put him in front of Barry Sanders or Jim Brown on the RB GOAT list.

Lets compare, non major wins. How many trnys. did Jack play a year in his day compared to Tigers trnys. he played in his hay day. Somebody googlepedia this, and report back for more conversation. Take Jacks best ten years, and Tigers best. Trnys. played, to trnys. won. I believe Jack probably played more only because there wastn't that many back then compared to today. Seems Tiger picks his trnys. non majors, that set up well to his game, eye.

Gary player wouldn't win 4 majors if he played today.

The top twenty throughout Tiger's career is far superior to Jack's era

That's the dumbest post ever. Gary was much better that David Toms and even he won one. Player would win multiple with ease. Ease!
