I am no JN fan, as I grew up a huge Arnie fan, but to give JN his credit, besides his record for wins in majors, I recall reading that he came in second something like 14 times, give or take a few wins. So, in 28 or so majors, he was either first or second. Where does Tiger stand in regards to these numbers? a serious question, not a flame on Tiger. As for the future, JN did not have near the competition, numbers wise, when he was winning. Whereas on today's Tour, there are 5-6-7-8 possible legit winners every time a majors is teed up. I cast a no vote on Tiger's chances for this reason alone.

Jack had 19 2nd place and 9 3rd place finishes.

For Tiger I see 6 2nd place and 4 3rd place finishes.

Going to repost this just to debunk your theory.

All won multiple majors during Nicklaus career.

Add in guys like Norman, Stewart, Faldo and Strange who also won multiple majors

Not reading 19 pages, but Tiger did this to himself. When ask what golf was about , what did Tiger say? "It's all about the majors". Therefore, that is how he is being judged. Has Tiger talked about all victories , then maybe people would be talking about that instead.

Billy Casper, Julios Boros, Tony Jacklin, Hubert Green and Graham were also multiple major winners in Jack's prime. Guys like Weiskoff and Kite weren't bad either.

Certainly there's more depth of talent today, but it wasn't like there were 5-6 Thouroghbreds and the rest quarterhorses. And I still think the best of Jack's peers would take the best of Tiger's peers in a Ryder Cup style match.

But I also think Jack and Tiger in their prime's with the same equipment Tiger would win more, but I think it would be close and fun to see.

Wow. I don't care who the competition is. That's impressive.
