another article going against my argument.

OLD GUYS

i will ask this: who cares if guys like bob may, rocco, dimarco gave tiger a good fight down the stretch? that doesn't mean the tournament was any easier for tiger to win. bob may shot the record for most under par in the pga that year he lost to tiger (including a 66 in the final round). in 2005, dimarco shot 68 the final round to finish at -12 (7 shots better than 3rd). these guys played great and still got beat. in todays game, there are so many players that can win. i also think it is easier to "choke" now than it was before - more media pressure and exposure, more difficult golf courses (i mean the winning scores at some majors now are more than they were in the past even with technology). just mho.

I'm sorry, but Tiger is not the most dominant athlete in the world. I can name three off the top of my head.

Phelps

Seems like Arnold or Jack would pull him aside and say what's up w/ the childish behavior and constant profanity?

Then they could remind him about the importance of the game and of the game's greats.

No doubt that Tiger is clearly the 2nd greatest player of all time at this time and will probably end up as the undisputed greatest w/in the next 5 years.

That said, on course demeanor and behavior should be something he can easily improve.

Also, his work w/ Veterans and kids of all races is tremendous. For that he deserves great respect.

VIDEO lesson #1. Look at Tom Watson this weekend. Cool as cool can be. I like Tiger and his talent. But ACT LIKE YOU HAVE BEEN THERE. CAUSE YOU HAVE!!!!

I hate this line... If the competition hates it, beat him... Fans must get over this shht. He's an emotional player, and I hope he never loses his fire.

So was Bobby Jones. You should see the Bobby Jones movie. Great watch.

Anyway Jones learned to become the reserved gentleman people remember him as.

So what?...

Bobby Jones was of another era... Superior athletes in every sport today are driven by emotion.

what's funny is that people will start saying he needs more second place finishes to be the best ever.

The second place finishes pile on to a body of work. Proves he was always around in Majors. The number is 18. If Tiger ties they are tied as G.O.A.T.... Then people can nit pick and look at second place finishes and missed cuts. I have no idea how many missed cuts Jack had in majors while in his prime?

He deserves more criticism than he gets for such antics on a GOLF COURSE, which that type of behavior is considered highly inappropriate. On many course, they will ask you to leave if you do that.

is walter hagen the 3rd best player of all time? no. but he has the third most majors. all im saying is that if tiger never played golf again, he should be considered the GOAT. we consider jim brown the greatest running back and jordan the greatest basketball player.

cycling and swimming are too low profile of sports to make this claim and federer has a losing record against nadal. that is not dominant.

But there is a difference between being driven by emotion/playing with fire and acting a fool on the course (i.e., cursing loudly, staring down spectators, slamming clubs etc)

Many players of the past may have done these things, but the media coverage was not what it is today. We just didn't see it.

Tiger can improve his behavior but......How many fricking pictures can you take of one guy?? They snap THOUSANDS per round. Jack and Tom didn't have to go thru this.

Woods is 33 years old. The act is getting tired. Will he keep doing it until he's 40? 50?

I don't know if Hagen is third or Bobby Jones, but an arguement surely can be made for them. ALL we have to judge by is that number. Without the invention of a time machine and kidnapping Jack in 1970 or Jones in 1930 we will never know.

If Tiger stopped playing today I feel in no way he could be the GOAT. All by himself in second absolutely. Jack won for a LONG time. Showed guys like Hogan and Palmer the door, and was still around to win a Masters in 1986.

Tiger has won 2 of the last 11 majors, including 0 for 3 this year. Fed has won 6 of the last 11, with 2 of them won in 09.

Tiger has NEVER won a tourney when he does not have the lead going into sunday. Tiger isn't even the most dominant athlete in his own sport.
